Not a matter of income as much as net worth. Unless youve already achieved financial independence it'd be foolish until you're fully funding retirement accounts and have no high interest debt. I'll echo the sentiment, the more you make the less those big splurges feel rewarding. I'd much rather save & invest so I can have FU money sooner.

Who wants to walk around with $5000 or $10000 on their wrist for thieves to see???

The vast majority of thieves couldn't recognize a $10k watch on the wrist to begin with. Most people can't identify watches on the wrist.

To the OP, buy what you like and can afford, it really is that simple. Individuals see money in different ways there are billionaires that won't spend $500 on a watch and guys making $50k a year with 10K tied up in their watch box.

If your plan is to have one watch and wear it everyday then I suggest you decide what you REALLY want and put some money aside until you can afford that watch.

Just curious for the OT. I always told myself I’ll get a nice watch when I make more $, but the more I make the less affordable the watch feels. How much did you make when you committed to a luxury watch?

my kid saved enough making minimum wage to buy a $2,000 pistol.

you act like this is something special.
