Just hire it out. Have a friend thinking about opening a business doing this. Detailing/repair for used dealerships. Bring your shite from aution, he details it, gives an estimate for repairs, fixes what you want and returns you a frontline ready unit.

What I do now though is strictly buy cars. Fly around the country and don't have to deal with customers, so unless someone offers me a stupid amount of money I am content.

If I was unemployed and desperate though, I would go fix hail and do PDR. I can't find enough PDR and painters to pass a background check to save my life.

And you're just a POS car salesman or manager that preys on the weak and you goddamn well know it. Laughing that you held 2 points on someone who doesn't know any better is fricking disgusting and pathetic. No matter how you sugar coat and think the business is genuine is a fallacy.

fricking thief

People have to buy cars and other people have to make a living. You may not like it, and we get that, but for God's sake shut the frick up about it. There's a sucker born every minute, and there will always be someone there to exploit them.

Jesus Christ man pull yourself together. You realize dealerships get incentivized rates from banks and beat credit union/bank rates that customers would get else where a majority of the time? You are awfully irrational and have a misplaced hatred for people that sell cars. A dealers markup is typically 5-8%, yet I don't see you ejaculating on your keyboard about industries with 20-50% markup, or even some pharmaceuticals that have 500%+ markup. Go protest Phizer or something.

- Highest markup products

Go protest teachers and painters

And once again, you evade the question on whether or not you ever ripped someone off?

Doesn't happen very often where I work, but where I work neither myself nor the customer have any say on the price of the vehicle, so it doesn't fall on me if they did.

No, I didnt lie to someone to get them to buy a car. To make a lot of money in sales you need mostly repeat business. Also, selling a car is not fricking rocket science and you don't need to lie to do it.

If by "ripping someone off" you mean " selling a product for more than what the dealership owns it for" then yes, I did my job.

I bet that dude selling diesel trucks off the Walker exit and I-12 is making bank. If you do it right you can kill it owning a lot that moves a lot of vechiles. Auto Yes would be another one that probably makes a killing. Now a salesman for them probably makes $45 to 70k.

I also know a car salesman from Infinity and he made $120k plus last year. I also heard that the GM's for the best dealerships in BR make from $200 to $400k.

Friend of mine retired from a Ford dealership, his last five years he did Internet sales and did really well. Most of his sales were pre-qualified and negotiated over the phone and they came in to test drive and sign papers

The best he did was a stretch when he was selling white F250 diesels in fleet sales.

F@I department is walking away laughing to the bank on holding 2 points over a 72 month note

MB financial lets you hold 2.5 points on 76-84 months.

Not that I know anything about that.

F&I is where the money is made. A sales department makes a net of jack shite every month.

A decent f&i should average 2-10k for every deal. The high dollar deals offsetting the cash customers and those coming in with outside financing.

The average gross profit margin of a used car is $2427, compared to the average gross profit margin of a new car is $1072. That's 126% percent higher per unit. I'm in radio advertising and call on a lot of dealerships. They make more money on preowned vehicles than they do new units. This is facr so yes a GODD USED CAR SALESMAN can make well over six figures

I have a friend that I loaned him some money to start I used car lot.
He had over 15 yrs of experience selling used cars for a big chain and was a sale manager of 8 of those years.
His place is very small, low overhead, and has a good mechanic that checks the cars out at auction.
He avg $250k on a bad year and $325k on a good year.
There is a lot of play in selling used cars.

Also Rando's correct. The F&I guys are the ones that make the deal PROFITABLE. They average 5K per deal. Places HATE and I mean HATE people who pay cash. Simple ZERO $$ in those deals

I was told by my friend the bigger dealers sell their pre owned for a small margin to make up the deal on the finance & insurance side.

That is why I come in with cash or my own financing when I buy a vehicle.

As someone who owns a used car lot I can wholly agree that a salesman makes that kinda money. I dont own the business, Im just the landlord, but I talk with the owner alot hes a good friend of mine and he was telling me his top closer, a spanish speaking woman easily made $100k+. Its a small lot too 28,000 sq ft he probably has 60-80 cars, buy here pay here. He pays cash for all his cars so no floorplan financing costs dragging him down. Big money in putting chips in the cars and letting people not pay and repoing cars
