I go to a really good optometrist with the newest tech in eyewear (lenses, coatings, etc).

Before insurance, my last pair were around $800. Paid $400 out of pocket. Seems extremely expensive for eyewear. Newest progressive lenses (cant remember the name), best coating, Tommy Hilfiger frames. They make good frames, don't buy their clothes.

I haven't bought new frames/lenses in over 5 years.
I do spend around $200-300 on contacts every year though.

800$ for a pair of glasses? That's fricking criminal.

I spent 4K on lasik 6 years ago and couldn't be happier.

Paid $150 for my daughter's glasses at Costco. She loves them.

I had my last pair from the same place, Harper Eye Care if you're around the Triad area here in NC. About the same price. Wore them everyday for 3 years and never got a single scratch on the lenses. They were as pristine after 3 years as the day I bought them. I dont get new glasses every year. Usually get new ones about every two years.

Think I will get some Rx sun glasses at Costco tho.

$35...honestly not an insurance claim either... bought them online. Use only when I take my contacts out so wasn't a big deal. Tons of cool frames to choose to my door price. I wear contacts for 2 weeks day/night. I take them out to sleep then put in a new pair. Use glasses on that one night so wasn't important they be designer. Only use them at home.

$20 or so, online.

I usually get a expensive pair of sunglasses then a half dozen or so pairs of glasses that I switch through.
