How much dead crawfish in a sack are you okay with?

By percent or pounds, how much would you be okay with before you switched the person you buy from?
Would you tell them why or just go somewhere else?

Less than 2lbs doesn’t really concern me. A lot of times they just get smushed to death

Boil all of those things, don’t eat the mealy ones.

At least crawfish are willing to die for the economy.

2lbs out of a thirty pound sack.
My crawfish man will take back and replace any dead ones you have.
I never bother returning a few. We put them on a hook and turn them into catfish.

Do you think they are dead because they appear dead compared to the live ones in the sack/bin?
Or the disproven/incorrect method, still commonly believed, that the "straight ones" after boiling were dead to start with and shouldn't be consumed?

Not many. I got two sacks from farmer last week. Had about five dead and they were all obviously crushed

I wasn’t there when they were cleaning them, but they were dead before, didn’t go in the pot. Bought 150lbs, 10% were dead. I think that’s too much and we should find a new seller, but idk if it’s worth calling the guy after the fact, or just finding someone new.

just cook them. pick what you want to eat, and throw away what you do not want to eat. unless i had a sack that the dead ones were just abusive....i cannot see me bringing anything back to the source. just go buy from somewhere else next time.
I pay a little extra to a guy that has very few dead bodies, and they are very clean. If you are around Metairie, I love Dennis'. mix their own seasonings as well. even sell small bags of spice for the second batch.
easy for me = more drinking time.

He didn’t try to stick you with dead ones.
Call him. He doesn’t even know there is a problem. I bet he makes them good.
He’s got to know there is a problem to fix it.
Hasn’t a woman expected you to be amindreader along the way ? It sucks.
