This is retarded as it gets. Those dudes operate a process that if goes bad can kill tons of people at the plant and affect the community. Many also are on ERT and act as first responders for incidents within the plants. Rescuing folks and providing medical attention if things go bad. I don't work Operations but many of those work hard and absolutely care about others safety in the plant.
Like I said, thank you for your service. Doing the lords work. Maybe one day we can all grow up and be as altruistic and rich and all the operators around here

The product that my unit makes literally saves lives, besides the fact that many lives are in my hands every single day while running the unit from the ccr.
I am an emergency responder trained and qualified in hazmat response, rope rescue, fire, and medical.
I am qualified in 2 different units, both field and control room. I volunteer outside of my job scope for various day projects and strive to never stop learning.

I don't know why you turned this into a dick measuring contest or something, but you are just flat out wrong in just about everything you say. That brings us to another quality of being a man that you lack--admitting when you are wrong.

I haven’t stated anything as fact

Of course, I want to work more than I work now for less money than I currently make to label myself a “man”
Why wouldn’t I be jealous?

I'm sitting here reading this post on double time at a little over $120 an hr. Every operator at these LNG plants that have been working for more than 2 years is making in the $225 to $250 a year range. Depending on the amount of ot you want. Those of us that's been here longer make quite a bit more. I've personally never missed any of my kids football games in the last 6 years. When you work 7/7 and have over 200 hrs of vacation plus sick time life can be pretty good. I've seen $70,000 bonuses ( not mine) so take from that what you will. Alot of people are very happy working these jobs.

Yup. This board has a notion that if you work in these plants that you can’t be financially sound or responsible.

Slaves. All that OT means no family time, a lot of missed holidays etc etc. I know no cares about that as it’s all about money.

operators can circle jerk all they want, I don’t care, I’ve been around them my whole life. It’s why places like lake Charles have such a bad reputation from outsiders. Give a little money to some blue collar guys and they want to start talking/acting like they sit on the board of ExxonMobil.
10% of those fellas or less know how to handle money. End of story.
It really is the gift that keeps on giving because our projections can almost guarantee most these guys are paycheck to paycheck meaning the money is coming back to the big boys, the real 7-8-9 figure men who actually know how to handle money. And if you want to get really mad you should see their taxable income. Remember VA isn’t taxed. These dudes did 2-3 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I believe one is paying less than 17% in tax. It’s phenomenal.
I see it every day. I’ll take any 401k from the plants and have it pissed on by multiple men I know who are retired former Active duty Colonels who have 2 retirements now and are just hitting 60-62 years old. $3-$4M in the 401k is cool. Making over $225,000 guaranteed the rest of your life not counting investments is better. No market risk on your livable wages.
It’s fascinating how bad some people are with money.
It makes me chuckle. For the record everyone in my family except for my father and siblings worked at the plants or something of the like. My father said he would never work there so he got educated and now this whole family has University degrees in high level professional fields.
Just a one generation turnaround fellas. It’s possible.

It's you vs a bunch of operators on this board who think their job and pay is hot shite
even though they require OT to make the money that they do
Ah yes the life of working 12 hour shifts before the additional commute time then getting home and going pretty much straight to sleep. Do it all over again the next day. Then missing holidays from family. Sounds great

Time and money management, some can do it, some can’t. It’s not that difficult to fathom.

It could be more of the norm than you think. I have been retired for a few years but many of us did the same thing at an industry in the Lake Charles area.
