You're drunk. Go to bed.
Btw, I've read your post in the herion thread and other post and have put 2 and 2 together and now know who you are. You're no where near the person you pretend to be on the internet.

You act like Tulane is Harvard or something. Any moderately intelligent person with a respectable high school record can get in. It's not some big accomplishment. Tulane law school is comparatively garbage versus a T14 school.

One of the funniest lines I've seen on this site. Still laughing two hours after o read it.

it's good to see all that cheese you were bringing in from slinging heroin went to help your family.
Too bad they aren't lawyers yet or they could help you with your upcoming legal defense.

That is my point. They are smart kids but the tuition without help was unaffordable at $66k a year. He seems to think everyone at Tulane has OT baller parents which is not true.

Tulane students generally come from wealthy families.
There are, of course, exceptions. Also, it's a very good school, but yes, it is not Ivy League. It's a pretty standard fall back school from kids who don't get into Brown, Cornell etc.

The reason it's so overrun w/yankees is something I read as a kid in a book called College Confidential. Rich yankees can't get into the Ivy League or 7 Sisters, so Tulane "saves them from the alleged horror of attending their state university".
Why would a degree from Tulane be all that impressive anyway? just because it is private?
So the same libs everywhere who so much want more government intervention into EVERYTHING cannot stand the thought of actually going to a public (i.e. government) school? and libs who are rich enough cannot stand it starting in kindergarten?
got it!

I spent 4 semesters at LSU and 3 at Tulane, and it's anacdotal as frick and I was also a little older and had burned more brain cells but the 20 year olds at Tulane blew my mind daily on how intelligent they were. Seriously i had to quit taking night classes because I'd be totally lost halfway through the class when these hungover kids that hadent cracked a book knew every single question the professor would ask. I never ever struggled at LSU but I would bust arse in classes with twice as much studying and prepping than I had done before to pray to get Cs.
I chalked it up as I'm just not as smart as these out of staters or that our local schooling doesn't prep us near the same.
Just my anecdote. I can't imagine those students not being able to compete at Ivy's and HAVING to suffice for magnolia league schools.
I'll also add that many of the kids just loved the whole idea of getting to come spend 4 years in a great American city in the south. A place they have only heard awesome things about. And to be able to get a respectable education to boot.

question for you Martini, are any of your three relatives on one of those legislative scholarships....where a Louisiana State Legislator can send one kid at a time to Tulane for free?

It's meant for the legislature to go out in his community and reward an exceptional student that deserves it, but it ends up going to a family member or donar's son.

my wife graduated from Tulane and had a core group of about a dozen friends she hung out with on a regular basis. Of that group, only one was actually from Louisiana. Others were from all over... I don't think any were actually from NJ though. She's originally from Georgia.

Yeah out of the South East, it seems GA and FL have a pretty sizable presence.
I think I know only one person from Jersey but I know 2 that went to Loyola.

Pretty much every Louisiana resident I know that went to Tulane was on one of those scholarships

Think I saw a stat that only 5% of incoming freshman were from La, but not sure if that is true

Similar experience. Spent 2 at Loyola and the rest at Tulane. Tulane was far more difficult and it wasn't even close. I was shocked at how competitive and how really smart these kids were. I went in my late 20's. People downplay Tulane, but it's mainly because they don't have a clue.
Eta: if I remember right at the time I was there, it was a very small % from LA. Most from NE (NJ, NY, MA, etc), CA, Chicago area, and FL. Lots of Asians too.
Eta2: my opinion of why it's like that is the LA education system just doesnt compare to other states.

There are plenty of kids from the south. The East Coast ones are just flashier and much more obnoxious. And yes, believe it or not, Tulane is full of smart kids.
