You’re really not very good at this. You seem to be very limited in your ability to convey a thought above that of a drunken oaf or a prepubescent teenager. Furthermore, your inability to process emotion is sincerely lacking. Try again Lisa.

Is this a 3-way fight between Stat, Beerjeep and Hinge about a CD scam from the 80s? Thank you. I feel better about my little pathetic life.

I always got LPs since prerecorded cassettes always sounded like shite. My brother bought open reel tapes from there.
I remember Sound warehouse in Monroe bought used CDs as long as they weren't record club versions.
I remember looking through their CDs and they were being sold as new.
It was easy to see why he didn't want club cds.

Ahh good ol Columbia house. I can credit them for beefing up my heavy metal collection in the 80’s. Got some good tapes on that 12 for 99 cent deal. Some of the ones I remember getting were Megadeth (SFSGSW), Metallica (Kill em All), Ozzy (Tribute), GnR AFD before it blew up. Those monthly bills were a pita though, they would have a “selection of the month” and if you didn’t send the card in saying you didn’t want it they would just send it to you and bill you for it. I failed to send it off more than once, but I really don’t remember what happened, maybe it was cleared up by me filing chapter 7 20 years ago lol

Had a family of five kids on the next block in my neighborhood who all did it back in the day. They listened to the ones they got and offered to sell me the ones they didn't like for a dollar a piece. Luckily they had terrible taste in music and I still have several of those records in my collection. Capitalism is a wonderful thing.

The record clubs like Columbia House and BMG had their own pressing and tape dubbing facilities. They would just license a master from the labels and print or press their own copies that were made to look the same and added the club’s logo for identification so record stores could identify the club copies.
The infamous KTel Records did something similar for their compilation albums. Sometimes they would even re-record a song with different musicians, but kept the same singer to cut down on royalties.
One place where the clubs could help someone was with obsolete formats.
The clubs were still providing 8tracks and records long after they stopped manufacturing them for the retail market.

I’d bet I signed up with at least a dozen fake names
I would never have thought of doing this. But I did sign up with them a few times...many moons ago.

Same with reels. And the tapes were usually 3 3/4 ips.

They made their money back making us buy 4 CDs at $22/each. Bastards.
Mike Hunt whose mailing address was the vacant house 4 doors down from me says you are a sucker.

to be honest i think most of us did, the smart ones never used their real names
i used my teachers names twice and my dogs name once, i even got a collection letter addressed to my dog, not sure if they sued him over it or not but they threatened to ruin his credit
