Maybe not where you are located. But I’m pretty sure I know what I did on the jury I served on and it was 100% a jury question as to whether the guy got death or life in prison and we voted for the death penalty.
But thanks for telling me that you know better than I do what I did on my jury trial.

Been called a few times . Only picked once for a trial. Man was accused of stealing an air conditioner . All they basically had was a footprint outside that didn’t match the shoes they brought to court… we let him go

5 times called, picked twice, served once as a alternate. Alternate sucks, you listen to the whole trial then are told to leave once arguements are done. The suit was a woman who was hit by another guy while driving five years earlier. Her lawyers did a good job explaining her pain and injury (her back was bad). She got on the stand as did her husband explaining herlife since the accident. Both ending their testimony with saying they had not had sex since the accident because it was very painful for her. Felt bad for her and the husband. Then the insurance company lawyer started to absolutely destroy her story. Insurance guy showed us video of her doing yardwork, playing a lot of league softball, and helping her husband carrying a big flat screen into the house. Ok sometimes you have to do things even if you are in pain. Then he calls her back to the stand on the objections of her lawyers. The judge allowed him to question her. First thing he asked her was how many children the couple had together. Objections! Overuled.
What are their ages? Objection! Overruled. Judge reminds her she is under oath. Her: I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. The lawyer asks her if the children were conceived medically or naturally? Objection! Overuled. I look over at the husband shaking his head no. She replied Naturally, like God intended. Her lawyers call for recess. We are led back to the jury room and called back 15 minutes later. She takes the stand and the Insurance lawyer end questioning then rests his case. Judge looks over to myself and the other alternare ,thanks us for our time and we were dismissed. We both walk out of the courtroom and there is Maw Maw tending to the children. Maw Maw ask us how things are going? I just kept walking.

I've been summoned twice. Each time I was in college. I was able to get excused because I was in college.
My wife was summoned about 2 months ago. She spent about 2 1/2 hours there before she was able to go home. I think she said they settled out of court of I'm correct.
My mom told me a story of how she had to serve once for a murder trial. After the verdict was read, apparently he yelled out "I'ma kill you motherfrickers. Every last one of you!" Before he was swiftly taken out.
My mom said that very week she and my dad bought their very first gun.

Invited almost every year (alternating municipal and criminal court), made voir dire twice, both murder trials, never selected. Would not have feared retribution, but was glad not to have to spend several days doing the process.
