Our entire house is electric but we have a wood burning fireplace that we dont use but it is cleaned and ready to go and we have wood. We have propane grill and crawfish burner so we could use cast iron. We have been here 3 years and never lost power. Neighbors said ice storm is only time they ever lost power and we are not expecting ice with this storm only snow.

I do not like snow, but can handle it. The sleet and freezing rain are what cause automobile accidents and power outages.
I went through this is 2009. We had what must have been a 500 year ice storm. We had no power for two weeks and the temperature never rose above freezing. I rode it out on the living room sofa with a set of gas logs, bottle of Maker's Mark, and Smith and Wesson .357 magnum. I am not going to do it again.
If this storm is as bad as forecast and we lose power then I am heading out on I-55 South and not stopping until the pickup thermometer reads 60 degrees outside temperature. If you are reading this and live south of me then do not be surprised if I knock on your door.

I convinced my bosses to get me as close to home as possible today - I'm near Alexandria hoping the ice stays north until morning so I can get out of here.
