Some form of healthcare: doctor, nurse, PT/OT, etc. AI will be helping these professions, but not replacing them.
AI can absolutely take the place of most Gen Pracs and family doctors. You walk up to a machine, it takes BP and weighs you and blood work, etc and then it tells you you’re either healthy enough or need to see a specialist which can also probably be a robot.
Surgery is more complex because of on the fly decision making. But general PCPs would be easy to replace with AI.
PT can also easily be taken over by robots.

but what's the impact if right now there are say 500k jobs in my field and in the future there are 300k jobs? That's 200k people that are either unemployed or having to find a new career.
The premise of the OP is that there will be zero jobs

Layoffs happening across all companies due to AI,
Where? Only layoffs in tech are for H1B workers to replace American workers.

Weird. I watch 21 year olds get hired with pretty good paying jobs about every quarter.
Yea, I can name thirty people in their mid-twenties that are recently graduated- all with jobs.

We already have several robotic surgeries and hard not to think we cant include several more for the most routine sugeries.

Name them all. Right now.

I agree it will happen. Probably a little slower than PCPs though.

What's wild is that this was hardly a question 10, certainly 20 years ago. Now it's one the biggest ones out there, and nobody seems to have the answer.
It has always been a question. Technology has always eliminated human jobs/tasks for our entire existence. More jobs arise to replace them.

Can and will are different things.
Sure, some GP doctors can be replaced. But compared to many professions, healthcare is safe.

Plenty of openings in the aircraft maintenance fields.

Oh, look, it's today's AI is going to take everyone else's jobs thread.

Oldest daughter is starting HS in the fall. She's really freaking smart - much smarter than myself or my wife. And I'm already thinking about what advice and guidance we will need to give her in just a couple of years.
My son is 15. He's very smart and gets straight A's. I've been wondering if there will be many jobs in the near future for smart, educated young people.

There will never be a shortage of work in my field.
Maybe you want to revise your thoughts.
New chainsaw drone technology

Cool, what jobs are those?

What entry level jobs are you hiring for?

Unemployment rates for college graduates are on the rise. This is a fact

There are no jobs, especially no entry-level jobs. And if some boomer O-T says there are, you haven't applied to a job in years.
What skills do you have? What experience do you have?
I left the military in ‘92, was a veteran and couldn’t find anything. I went to school, gained some skills and even then had to leave the state to get experience because I couldn’t buy a job here. It isn’t just AI, sometimes it’s just not easy.

I would suggest engineering as much as healthcare
