Even a former Governor (Madam Governor) thought Bogalusa was in Mississippi.

Licking in Kansas people only know of New Orleans and Baton Rouge unless they have a connection to Louisiana. Maybe Shreveport on rare occasions

Au contraire. Arkansans know where it is. They play most of their bowl games there.

Is this a subtle I have never left the state post?

Most only know of NOLA. Even though everyone was forced to learn that BR is a capital......

Black people in Southern California know of Shreveport and Monroe... you wouldn’t believe how many people grandparents from Northern Louisiana in LA... same for Chicago with small Mississippi towns

I find that few people could identify towns outside of their own state...even the large cities.

Before I moved to Louisiana, I only knew of Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans

I’d say Duck Dynasty brought some recognition to Monroe

Most would know NO and BR. I'd go with 75% Shreveport. Every other place would be below 30%

You think more people know Shreveport than Lafayette?

New Orleans
In the south people I have met know of Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
If it was 1950 then people would probably know of Shreveport

It's kind of surprising to me more people seem to know of Shreveport than Baton Rouge.

I've never had Shreveport come up in conversation when speaking with someone not from Louisiana. Doesn't come up much even when speaking with someone from Louisiana. Shreveport was really big in the music industry it the 50's. I'm sure a lot of older people are familiar with it.

Nationally most know New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Regionally in Texas and OK, the people I come across only seem to know of Shreveport and LC due to proximity and casinos of course. Although I’ve had many people ask if I live in or near duck dynasty to which I reply, no that’s upstate over 3 hours away. Monroe is becoming more national from the Robertson family.

I don’t see how that’s funny? Lafayette isn’t nearly as important as the people from the area make it seen. I never heard of the town until I was about to move to LA and saw ULL. Shreveport is much more recognized. It’s such a unique name that sticks compared to Lafayette too.

Lafayette

About 15 years my wife's bf brother, bought a plane ticket to Lafayette. Can't remember where he was flying out of, but when he landed he was in Indiana.
