How many godchildren do you have? How does one godparent?

I have 3 godchildren, ages 4 months to 6 years old. A friend is due in July and that will be my fourth godchild. All girls so far, so hoping for a boy this time. None are related to me by blood.
How do you live up to your role as a godparent? I give birthday and Christmas gifts and spend time with them. But I feel like I don't do enough to actually fulfill the responsibility of the godparent in the Catholic church - helping to ensure the child is raised in the Catholic faith. I am not sure what I can do as a godparent. Any tips? Best practices?

Teach them the stuff about life that their parents won't

You don't have to be Catholic to be a Godparent

None. I'm not catholic or in the mafia.

Becoming a Parran for the first time Sunday.
I think you as the godparent are to encourage the child to explore their faith. Lead by example. Also, if the parents kick the bucket in a horrible wood chipper accident or something, the church makes it your responsibility to see to the faith portion of the kid's life.

3- they get better presents than the other nieces and nephews. One I am financially assisting because mom and dad are POS.

I dressed up as Santa Claus a few times, does that count? That's kind of like god.

I have one. He's a lawyer. I make him repent.

One of the godparents has to be, but both must be baptized.

According the Church you do... A lot of people don't follow it today, but these are the church requirements for both and it applies to both. You only need to have one though. If you have two, one must be male and the other female.
(a) be Catholic
(b) have been baptized, confirmed and receive Communion
(c) be 16 or older (although there may be exceptions to this rule at the discretion of the bishop)
(d) must be living a life consistent with their own baptismal vows.

According to the church, both have to be. For some reason people think as long as they do one Catholic, the other one can be whatever. Church rules say you only need one godparent, but if you have two, they both must meet the same criteria.
You can have a witness that is a baptized non catholic representative.

My goddaughter is my niece so I would do anything for her

I have one. My wife buys her all the shite I'm supposed to buy her. I'm a bad example if they get hit by a beer truck and want her to be raised appropriately Catholic.
