Since it is the same as Ivermectin, are we comfortable taking it if it is available and doctors are still refusing to prescribe Ivermectin?

I would have. But that’s because I read as much as I could about the drug and tried to see what they said the differences between it and ivermectin are. There are a lot.

Aren’t Asprin and Tylenol different but essentially used interchangeably when people ask for a pain reliever. Point is there a drug that beats Covid so why should we care about Omicron.

I’m just saying it’s a nice coincidence this drug came available now.

The point is this new drug does what Ivermectin was also said to do so I’m using the name so people will know what I’m talking about.

Where do you get this notion? The textbook MOA of ivermectin is not similar at all to a antiviral protease inhibitor.

Sigh. For whatever reason many Drs feel/felt ivermectin “neutralized” Covid before it really got bad. Why? I don’t know but they think/thought it worked in that way.

Now this new Pfizer drug supposedly does the sane general thing. How and why? I don’t know. Honestly I don’t care if it works.

Lol. Given how much you comment on pharmacology and immunology, would it really behoove you to actually learn something about it?

This drug is just a protease inhibitor. It's not a new class of medication.

I know, right? Now all we have to figure out is, Who is this god-like person who controls everything, including virus mutations in South Africa, pharmaceutical drug approvals in America and elections? It must be a liberal Democrat. Liberal Democrats are god-like and seem to control everything. There are no coincidences.

I comment about the hypocrisy of it and how they talk down to people who ask questions. I researched IVR a ton and there where some excellent reports on WHY doctors thought it would work and also studies showing that it did work.

I haven’t researched this new drug bc honestly I’m no longer really concerned about Covid but great if it works.

There are plenty of doctors who are willing and HAVE prescribed Ivermectin for Covid. The media just won’t let you hear about them.
Many of my colleagues in the medical field have taken prescribed Ivermectin when they were diagnosed with Covid and have had positive results.

Even the Louisiana State Board of Nursing is censoring nurses under the threat of disciplinary action if we are caught going off the government accepted script in our comments.

Maybe it's because details matter in detail-oriented disciplines, and to certain groups of people, details don't matter? See this thread.

Ivermectin is a great drug, but the obsession with it as a curative just doesn't recognize what happens when drugs are used clinically, which is resistance patterns forming, especially due to inconsistent dosing regimes. The same thing will happen with Paxlovid and other antivirals, because a new oral pill is just begging to be used wildly.

I hate the militants on both sides of the covid "debate" at this point.

Only one of these groups wants to force people to inject something into their body against their consent.

tOT never ceases to amaze me. It shits on any degree that isn't STEM but then finds it incomprehensible when someone displays knowledge of basic O chem.

Look Ivermectin was clearly worth a try when we had NOTHING else but it was poo poo’d for who knows why (well I have a good guess).

Ive been amazed at this phenomenon for a while now. They absolutely hate when you use math or science and insist on making everything political.

I dont understand how people can be anti-science just because politicans use it to justify their bullshite. America is leading the world in scientific innovation.

I agree. But that has nothing to do with the new antivirals.
