I would drive in the black market

I do that now sometimes, but I do get worried about being carjacked when in those parts of town.

Not just possible but likely. It could very likely drive down occurrences which means fewer claims paid. But don't look for any corresponding premium price drop though.

Bottom line-you'll be forced to pay more for a computer car, pay same premiums, insurance companies profit.

That's not how economics works. If the premiums are too high and payouts are too low then a new entry will disrupt the market and force premiums lower.

That's not how insurance works. Drivers get fleeced because of monopolistic laws that inhibit new market entrants.

No, there are plenty of small, local insurers that do not scale the scale of Allstate, GEICO, State Farm, etc. but most choose to go with the big guys because they believe there are benefits of those insurers over other options.

Insurance companies stand to lose too much money if this happened. I don't think it will.

Driverless cars will still need to be insured, at the current rate you pay for auto insurance. If you want to still drive a car, well, that will be an additional premium. Insurance companies will still get their money.
