It has to be voted on by the whole state.

Nah. Maybe the representatives. Maybe.

Constitution has to be amended due to another split of the state funding pie. In order for that to happen it has to pass 2/3 legislature then amendment has to pass statewide and EBR.

Edmonds’ plan includes multiple bills: one to create the district and another to propose the constitutional amendment that would be necessary to secure state funding for it.

but St George includes all those rentals by King Bradford, the Devonshire and Jefferson Lakes sketchy apartments, and little Honduras over there by old Jefferson

Most of those kids go to ‘St George’ schools right now, and it’s not that great.

Are ‘those people’ just going to disappear?

Seriously guys stop with the race baiting. They’ll literally have dozens of minorities in the future school district

Yea, I've definitely noticed the trend of people moving to areas to get cheaper schooling eventually becoming an undesirable area. It's nice and safe for a while, but give it a couple generations and it just becomes trashy.

The Fightin Whities

Could be the St. George Wizards.

Not because of racism but because they were a Wizard to actually get the thing done.

Either a knight or a dragon.

Nope. It has to be a constitutional amendment to start a new school district in the state.

A house committee put forth a bill that would end that, but nothing happened with it

There's supposed to be a bill in the upcoming legislature that would do just that. What I want to know is if Woodlawn High will be renamed St. George High.

The issue at Woodlawn HS is less the students and more the revolving door of horrendous administrators. An independent district will be able to pay top dollar for a principal that will get shite done.
As for the students, WHS has ESL, which buses in Hispanic kids, and magnet, which allows kids kicked out of other schools to enroll. A separate district will have a more select group. You will also pull back the hundreds of students that attend Mayfair, Sherwood, McKinley (Middle), and Baton Rouge High.

I don't foresee a district for at least three years after a bill is passed. EBRPSS will file suit over every inch of property.
