That is quite dangerous medical advice to suggest weed instead of a benzo.

Just to be clear (because you replied to me), I didn't suggest that. I responded to the guy that did.

What this guy said. I can tell you that I was very frustrated with a love one for messing up & living life negligently. I assumed after I took them to the hospital for a banana bag that they needed to sleep it off. The next day, they were shaking & hallucinating & tried to take their own life. I shook it off when they were asking me questions like, “don’t you see the carpet moving?” “ Don’t you hear the voices?” I didn’t understand the severity of drinking on that level & stopping cold turkey. Ultimately, they were taken to a rehab facility.

Please seek medical attention.

Man, the other day I really tied one on and went to work the next day. My pulse didn’t drop below 100 until the early evening. It might have been the monster I drank or the hangover. It was weird and freaked me out a little. Made me want to quit for a bit but I’m currently drinking a beer so that went out the window.

Of all things that people abuse, all drugs, and alcohol. Alcohol detox is the only detox that can kill you. Seek medical help!

Was just a suggestion. It's something easily accessible a person could try.

If you say that it doesn't work and you have been, then I will not suggest that.

or alcohol detox, valium is what they give

Librium is what they gave me. All three times I had to detox off alcohol I was given Librium. Alcohol withdrawals absolutely suck. The first time I had them bad, I was seriously concerned that i was going to die. I was sweating profusely and kept hearing a cat meowing all around me. I was actually seeing things. Every muscle in my body would clench, then release. Then clench, then release. Absolute hell. I spent 9 days at Woodlake detox. Of course, I had to go go through that 3-4 more times before I finall y quit drinking. 19 months sober now.

Although not common, Valium and Xanax withdrawal can kill you. I'm sure there are others as well.

I was drinking about a fifth of vodka a day. I was a drunk like Kaye. I would pass out, wake up and drink some more, pass out, go get more vodka, drink and pass out. Rinse and repeat.

It is. The depression is the worst part though

I'd usually check into detox/rehab and as soon as the symptoms went away, check out. I'd start drinking within a couple of days. Probably detoxed a half dozen times

That was pretty much me at the end. I was buying that shite by the pint instead of the fifth, because obviously that was going to be my last one. Just meant more trips to the store. Whatever you do stay away from the vodka, that will be your end. It's just too convenient...cheap, not much odor, can mix with anything. I'm pretty sure I was well north of a fifth a day when I hit my bottom. I was sure I was dead in my own bed from DT's. I would rather stare at the wall all day for the rest of my life than go through that again. I did it so many times though it got to the point I could deal with the pain/hallucinations and such. Your main concern should be severe anxiety, blood pressure, and your ticker. It's what does most people in.

I would do the exact same thing. I’d buy pints of the flavored vodka and drink them straight. Then I’d go into blackout mode, and just wake up the next day or two with a different brand of vodka next to me so I knew I must have gone to the store at some point. One time, I started drinking in a Friday night and the very next thing I knew, I looked at my phone and it was Tuesday. I was absolutely convinced that my phone was wrong. Nope, I had been in a 3-4 day blackout and had gone through several fifths that I have no recollection of buying. It was an absolutely horrible existence. I wouldn’t wish it on my worse enemy. I say a fifth a day, but that’s really just a guess. It was probably a bit more than that because the days and nights all ran together.
