I'm sitting in the waiting room at an ortho office for a 2:00 CST appointment that they called and set for me to review a MRI. In my line of work, if someone is 15 mins late to a confirmed appointment , I reschedule. How long should I give this doc? Thinking of leaving after 30 mins of wait. Your advise is requested.

Depends on how badly you want to know what's on the MRI.

I was doing a follow up on my shoulder a few weeks ago. Hit an hour past my time and I walked out. 1st time I ever did it but had many other times I wanted to.

I'd stay but make sure they know that they will be reviewed. Hospitals are extremely sensitive to comments and complaints and most will have a patient advocate.

The HITECH money in the Stealfromus package of 2009 helped pay for a lot of software to measure such things.

Week since my Pol Bros. are in this, it's shoulder related, so I can reschedule to later. No big whoop.

I'd rather a dr take the necessary time with each patient than rush them in and out the door on a fixed schedule. If that means I have to wait a while, so be it. I have a phone to pass the time.

ETA: However, some doctors are a lot better at time management than others. With some, delays are the exception. With others, it's rare that they're not running way behind.

Get up and geaux now if you'd like.

Just understand the difference between you and that "ortho", is he may have had to leave the office earlier to attend to an emergency . . . i.e., setting a child's arm in the ED.

Tough decision for him. Does he stay scrubbed in and complete the surgery to the best of his ability, or rush to the clinic so that dude waiting on the MRI follow up, or the multitude of other non-anesthetized, non-surgical patients, won't be slightly inconvenienced.

I'm sure it's a struggle for him to decide.

Again is a non surgical office day for the physician in question. Post surgicals, consults, etc. No bone settings or amputations on the books today.

Specialist are tuff, I'll wait for the info hoping they give me the same amount of attention as the person before me. My family practitioner, I'll let him have it and take his money on the golf course.

Good luck with the ailment.

36 minutes and 4.09 seconds. Not a moment sooner, not a moment later. That is the general guideline.

I agree with NC_Tigah. HOWEVER, if I am an able bodied patient, and it will be a while, the doctor or one of his colleagues needs to inform the front desk that the doctor will be running late due to unplanned circumstances. Emergencies and patients with one million complications happen all the time, just keep me generally informed if it is going to be delayed.

If you like your doctor...you can sit there and wait for your doctor?

That sounds a little off but it was SOMETHING like that
