I had a buddy get busted at the Tarpon Rodeo by JP Street Crimes team for smoking a joint. You would’ve thought he had a dead body in the car judging by the number of cops who swarmed his vehicle. They threw him in the Grand Isle jail, which could hold maybe a half dozen people, for about two hours. After which time, I bonded him out and we partied on.

Wtf are u talking about. No one said anything like that. U got way off topic for someone stating another parish that you have to go through to get to the other side of the parish. Which ascension is correct.

Jefferson was forced to take Grand Isle in the Great Compromise of 1822.

And you are thinking with blinders on. To drive a car, correct, will not argue that. The Parish lines were not drawn that way, there thought to get from one side to the other wasn't a car.

Surely at this stage you've realized that very little in Louisiana makes sense. Right?

You can't get to the west bank of St. John without either going thru St. James or St. Charles. Same if you went west to east.
Unless you kayak the river.
Same with Ascension. You have to cross another parish (Iberville or St James) to get to Donaldsonville.

What kind of fricked up map is this? Where the hell did Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurespas go?
The parish lines in that area extend out into the lakes. Lake Ponchartrain is split between Orleans, Jefferson, and St Tammany; and possibly small parts in St John the Baptist and Tangipahoa.

Parishes don't stop at water, baw.
You can see the Jefferson/St Tammany parish line marker part of the way across the Causeway bridge.
Otherwise, the lakes would be a neutral, no jurisdiction, party all the time zone.

The county seat of St. John Parish is on the west bank but 90% of the population lives on the east bank.
Same is true of Ascension...
And Ascension also meets the other oddity mentioned...From the East Bank, you have to leave Ascension and access the Sunshine bridge in St. James Parish to reach the West Bank of Ascension Parish.

The community of Pleasure Bend on Lac Des Allemands is in St John but only accessible by car from St james.

St. Bernard is now the place that it has always strived to be, just under the balls.
The a-hole of Louisiana.
The a-hole of Louisiana.
