And they say that the oil crash is the main reason TOPS is losing its funding so now all the laid off oilfield workers can't pay for their kids to go to Nicholls State. And 80% of the Nicholls student body already has kids themselves but without an education or a thriving oil patch, they won't be able to support those young children. These are truly terrible times for our state

sounds like some should have made better career choices

Zero. I don't pay for gas and my pay doesn't depend on gas/oil

I was able to afford a few extra cases of bud and a big dildo for my bride.

That's a very positive attitude. Sorry about your job. I am torn because I do enjoy the lower gas prices, though.

Well to be honest, it would have been better for my taxes to have higher gas

Seems if the company you worked for cared, they'd take the loss and carry you. Why should we?

Yeah, because that's how business works

FWIW, I didn't ask you to care. I simply answered the question.

ETA: My company does care which is while I'm still employed while they pay me out of their personal funds. I've also offered to take a substantial paycut to save other's jobs as well.

There was a time when business did work like that, perhaps it's time to regress. Asking the public to carry these fat cats is dumb.

Me not much but my oilf company clients with homes are getting whacked with layoffs : One guy got promoted to president of his oil company and they closed it down two days later.
The people getting laid off will find other work and if it comes back won't be any experienced people around. Really hurting the state and conversely the country. When everything shuts down the middle eastern countries will be the winners. Enjoy it now.
