Lets be real about it. If I went to the average church going child and asked them what happens to you when you die. We both know what the answer will be. Children love Santa and are scared of this guy.

Quite the opposite. One was actually a true non-believer. Entire family, for that matter.

Um...what? Do you just pretend to be religious around them?

Believing in god? Not really. Being a god fearing bible thumper that thinks athiests are going to hell? Yeah.

I would love there to be an after life for me and my family, and I hope god is real, but hope doesn't create faith unless you are gullible and or scared. I can not say that I 100% believe in God, that doesn't make me a bad person.

Rub it in your face athiests are idiots, but Christians can be just as bad

Nailed it, my exact thoughts as well.

my family or my wife's family have never sat around the old fireplace telling Jesus stories.

Not sure how it would even come up for them to know one way or the other.

Not trying to defend this guy, he was way out of line.

But, a lot of people doubt God when a loved one dies.

See this is kind of the thing that I'm wondering about. Who was this guy? Is he family? Is he someone who was close to the deceased? If he isn't religious then there is some reason that he is attending the funeral, so the above is a reasonable assumption or at least decent possibility. Is he distraught about losing someone close to him and acting out in ways that he normally would not? These are the questions that a conscientious person would ask himself rather than jumping at the opportunity to assert righteousness. Just showing up to a funeral to cause a scene seems like a stretch, but I guess it happens.

You can say that again. Atheists are smarter than regular people and know how to spell "per se".

I know I was real angry when my dad died. I hardly experienced any grief the first several weeks but overtime I think I have.

everybody deals with shite differently.

being a teenager at the time of his death, I got into it with another kid at school about month later. I was kicked out of that school and was sent to a private school down the road.

long story short, a lot of shite happened in the span of six months besides his death. My parents had gotten a divorce about 4 months before he died.

I felt like my anger was justified.

I've seen/heard people do crazy things in times of tragedy. Its human nature I guess.. not every is going to fall to their knees immediately and call out to their God or their Higher Power.
