Do the garbage men in your town still touch trash cans? They don't get out of the truck in Ruston, and they didn't in Dallas when I moved away in 2011.

Walmart, and companies like FedEx and UPS have been hiring since all of this started. A doctor friend told me several Walmart employees here have tested positive for it. When I go in there now, it looks like most of their people are young. Same with the restaurants around here. Mostly college and high school kids have been bring meals out to our car.
That's the way it should be. Let everyone, that's healthy, work, but keep folks with health problems at home.

No, that's not a factual statement for Louisiana. You've got Louisiana confused w/ NY and NJ. One of the FEW things Gov Edwards has done right was to disallow LA nursing homes from sending covid patients back to a NH.

The Lowe's I go to did the same thing. What they didn't do was move the card machine out closer to the edge of the counter. Now, you have to reach way under the plexi glass screen and try to enter your PIN. I dicked it up twice and finally just hit the credit button.
Also, all the cashiers wear masks, but none of the stockers and such do. And they have the 6ft markers at each register, but still have the registers beside each other open. So, you are 6ft away from the people in front of and behind you, but you can rub elbows with the folks in line next to you.
None of it makes sense.

No, it has everything to do with the type of person that works nursing homes: when you're not good enough to work in a clinic or hospital, you find a nursing home job.

Fun fact that nobody is really discussing: YTD Texas has 1000 deaths due to Covid19 among a population of 29 MILLION. Hundreds of thousands have lost their jobs from something that has killed 0.003% of the population.

Clearly not. But when this started the state commandeered the facilities at state parks with the goal of housing patients there who didn’t need hospitalization but couldn’t isolate safely.
Obviously that didn’t happen. Instead JBE went on a wild goose chase spending money building facilities for all the ICU beds we didn’t need. Using those funds to separate positive cases would have been a far better expenditure.

walmart is always hiring. they are replacing those who have died from the virus to keep fully staffed.

A large % of their workers are on parole, my brother is a Probation officer. He tries and gets as many of his young clients jobs there.
Makes his job a lot easier when they have to be at work for 4:30am rain or shine, 6 days a week.
