It's amazing how many college educated people on here do not understand outliers. Sure, your cousin with a 21 may have went on to do great things in school but way more often than not he will be less likely to graduate or move on to quality grad programs than someone with a 26 or above. Furthermore, diligence does not substitute for intelligence. Someone with a 21 may work hard but it's doubtful they will make to it med school if they could only manage an average score on a fairly easy test.

And for the record, I know plenty of people who scored less than me and most of them went to PWI schools (that is the sad part) College has shown me that diligence and skill trumps scores. If you only knew how many 26+ ACT people dont make it in STEM or pre-med programs...

I agree with you there. I had a 28 and graduated in PETE. What you scored on the ACT means very little when you're in STEM. You must work hard, no matter how smart you are.

They will have to increase grants or SUBR will go even further into debt. Everyone knows those damn ACT/SAT are racist as hell and if they increase the ACT minimum to the 24-26 range the number of blacks that qualify will plummet. Them damn whites with their test taking privilege well be effected too but not as bad.

In all seriousness, the 26 ACT requirement (which I fully support btw) will almost for sure close the doors of multiple Louisiana public unis. How many kids with a 26 ACT are even at Southern or even your McNeeses and Nicholls? Not many, I guarantee you that.

That is VERY true. Another reason I only mention my school is too avoid offending others. But you have a point, many HCBU are NOT the only schools that are facing student fall off.

I knew a girl who had a 17 ACT and got into McNeese. A 17! And she was white. Absolutely gorgeous, but obviously not that sharp God bless her.

Let's just get SUNO closed as a common sense first step.

Lets get something straight. volod DOES NOT care about SUNO.

It only exists because NOLA was the original home of Southern before the land grant act made us move to BR and the founders felt an auxiliary campus should be kept as a provision for people in that area.

If I had my way, SU would have only one campus.
