So your kid is gonna play in 2 games, possibly 3 per week? I know this was supposed to be a subtle brag thread, buuuut turns out, it's just a "you're an idiot parent" thread
One game on Monday, go home and do home work.
Another game on Wednesday, go home and do homework
Most varsity games on Friday night go home and get laid.
I seriously don't see what what problem is.

Send him to Bama. Saban doesn't care about grades.

I know I'm not the only one in this boat. Any advice on how you guys have handled your kid pulling "extra duty" and keeping grades up?
He gets a shot to keep his grades up. If he doesn't he's off the team.
Seems pretty easy.

CTE is going to mess his brain up anyway. Learning seems like a waste of time.

What options do you think you have? Either do the schoolwork when he can or don't.
Common sense would tell you to do homework when not busy with sports. Eat and bathe before bed.
Repeat.

You don't wash the funk off in the AM?

Will have to study and do homework when others are watching tv and playing.

I can't imagine any reason why a parent would allow their child to play three games of football a week with what we know now about brain injuries.

Tell the coaches that you don't think he should be on the freshman team.

Have him quit that crap. If he was any good he would be starting on Varsity as a freshman. Besides, high school sports is trashy

What do we know?

As a parent you don't allow those decisions to be made for YOUR child...pretty simple

Ride those coattails, baw. Make sure there's room in the mansion for daddy, once he goes pro.

Games don't really take up much more time than practice would. High school is practicing or playing 6 of the 7 days of the week already. I don't really see the difference.

3 games a week. *sigh*... my immediate thought is how does a kid handle this load and academics?
That's nothing. He'll manage it just fine.

There is no difference. Both practice and games take no more than 2 hours after school. Whether it's a game or practice shouldn't matter if he's only worried about grades.
Now if he's worried about injuries that's a different story.

I did this; it's not difficult. Your kid will be fine (unless he's dumb).

My daughter won the State meet in gymnastics one year . She was better than average but not elite .Her coach told her we needed to pull her out of the magnet program and attend the gym " home school" so she could practice everyday and reach her potential and get a college scholarship. Her life would have basically been gymnastics first, everything else later.
We made the easy decision to say screw that and double down on academics and take a more relaxed and fun approach to gymnastics at BRMHS instead. Because sports will always take a backseat to academics in my family. Don't wear your kid too thin with sports . A well balanced life should be the goal.

Usually if he is playing JV full time he won't play on Freshman team.. and if he is running with the 2nd string on varsity they won't let him play Freshman ball Also depends on size of school.

Precisely. And for the average player, less exhausting.
