Statistically, you’re right. But you got your law degree where?
Also, him taking a plea deal has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

Buddy, I know you are above it all. At least in your own mind. Hell, I’m sure you can defend yourself in court like you’re Perry Mason and get away with murder.
But if the shite hits the fan, and potential jail time is involved, get me the best lawyer and cost be damned.
That’s not a used car salesman gimmick, that’s just what I would do. Ask Karen Read if she currently gives a frick about lawyer fees.

Reminds me of a coworker who got a DUI and was bragging the 10k he spent on a lawyer (in 2002) was the best 10k he ever spent.
His face when he found out everyone got the minimum.

You’re comparing apples to wrenches. But again, you are so smart you know better than everyone.
What did you do when you got your first DUI?

You missed out on your calling as a term life insurance agent...
You have the skills

How long has the lawyer been practicing? What is his or her success rate? Does this lawyer have a good reputation? Is the lawyer a walking degree who never keeps up on the law, changes in the law, or never works to develop her or her skill-set? Does he or she keep a shitload of cases or focus on a select handful of clients?
There are a ton of factors to look at. Good lawyers aren't cheap and by and large, cheap lawyers aren't good.
I do not find a $25K retainer on those charges offensive....and I do not do any criminal work.

I also have the skills to mow lawns. Doesn’t make it my calling.

I;d pay money to see that...

Or at least the aftermath

You’re right. I pay people to do that.

Reality: I live in a city and don’t have a lawn.

I would make him use a public defender. Seems as though the facts in the case are not in dispute. Why waste money?

Absolutely. Kid sounds like a dipshit, he needs some lessons learned.

Honestly, I get this mindset. And on the internet, that’s an incredibly easy statement to make.
But if it’s your child, would that be the same reaction? I’m thinking and hoping not.

Most likely. You seem to not understand accountability.
There are times kids need it.

Buddy of mine got one in a small town (N Louisiana) with the judges son in the car.
Judge tells him to build him three deer stands (big boxes) and he can get article 894. Baw works his arse off all summer and spends $1,000 +
Another friend gets one and just walks down and asks for article 894 - granted

Same Judge

Not likely a retainer. Criminal defense lawyers almost always charge a flat fee

Did you get your legal experience from the DUIs?

More power to you. I understand accountability quite well. Can you point in this case where it’s merited to the point where a parent should say “frick it, put him through the system so he learns”?

I typically am not on your side and I know you despise me. But thank you for reaffirming the obvious.

I;ve had one, which is a couple dozen less than the number of STD's youve had'
Hint: Stay away from the bathhouses.
