I feel em' but I can't reach em.

The difference between me and them is a slight twist of fate or one bad decision...

They choose to be homeless
I know a guy that was homeless for several years. He told me he actually liked it. Having no responsibilities was liberating for him. He's cleaned up his life and doing pretty well now, but looks back fondly on those times. It's crazy.

I donate and work a few hours a month at the local food bank and I financially support the women/abused children’s shelter. The roadside and parking lot beggars get nothing from me.

As I was sitting in jail in January, I came to the conclusion that I was doing homelessnes all wrong. My hippie nature set in and I began formulating a plan to live off the grid in the woods all while working and showering at Planet Fitness. These were my plans in jail. However, when Christ intervenes, you ought to throw all your plans aside and roll with what He has. Needless to say, I'm now living comfortably indoors after a literal Fresh Start in Winnsboro Louisiana. And to think I could sometimes be found in Bawcomville before this last arrest...
Just living off the Lord's mercy and Grace these days. So, yes, I empathize with homelessnes as we all should. But more importantly, we should look at these people not as homeless, but as God's potential children. There are only two types of people in this world: those who have accepted Christ's Grace & those who need to.

If she's hot I might consider sex.
I accidentally picked up a homeless chick at the old Grand Casino Gulfport once. The comments I remember her making were "You know I could have robbed you" and "Wow! good sex from a white boy."
I'm not sure what she would have stolen, though, and she was as white as I am... well, almost. I saw her mugshot on the Sun-Herald website a few weeks later and her surname had three consecutive consonants.

Do you ever think to yourself if she’s willing to work for the money? I would think it but probably would never ask. Just curious how hungry she really is.
The next time I saw her it was 99 degrees in the shade, and she was standing in the same place I had seen her before (only place I’ve ever seen her). I guessed she had to be legit to intentionally suffer in that heat. I gave her a five dollar bill that day, only time that I’ve interacted with her.
Next time I see her I’ll try to get a pic. Maybe someone on here might recognize her.

In L.A., it's an epidemic
I could see that in LA. It’s so expensive, if you’re one of those people that lives beyond your means and lose your job for a couple months, you could be out on your arse so fast your head would spin

Most of these people can’t hold a job due to mental illness or drug/alcohol addiction. They need help, but most don’t want help. Some need to be institutionalized, but we can’t do that thanks to the ACLU.

Pity. Almost always mentally ill and addicted

They are either

Running from the law
They choose to be homeless
It’s not that hard to understand
What an ignorant statement.

lot of them have schizophrenia and no way to afford medication. But that wouldn’t happen if you were schizophrenic right? You would pick yourself up by the boot straps and talk to voices while you worked at the plant
Agree 100%
All of these posters saying they chose to live that way because they don’t want a normal life is a ignorant fool. The mentally ill cannot function enough to choose how they want to live. And most of them end up on drugs which also takes away choices.
I’m in recovery and spent a short time homeless before sobering up. I can’t imagine how tough it would be to better your life with a severe mental illness as well.
Earlier this year I ran across an old friend begging for money. His dad had just died which was the only reason he wasn’t homeless long ago. I paid to have his pop cremated. Found out he had a small insurance policy that could pay me back and pay a few months rent but the guy cannot function enough to let me help him file the claim and his dad is in a box in my shed. I don’t know what to do with the ashes. I tracked down who his parents were and where they’re buried. Might ask the church to put him with them
