I agree I’m not up to speed how the process works. Based on info in this thread though I won the arguement and that’s all I care about

Let’s say the bondsman charges 15% and bail is 9k...I say bondsman charges $1,350 my friend says it’s 15% of the 75k for $11,250.

Why are you taking 10% of 12%? There's only one percentage. Bail is $75k, you pay a bondsman 12% of that, non-refundable, because you don't have $75k.
There is no 10% in this.

Nice
I argued why go through a bondsman if you can use collateral to get the person out. I figured bondsman were kind of like the western sky loans places.

Unfortunately they exist because 75K is hard to come up with, OT baller status and all. Can I ask, where did you come up with 75K? That is too much for DUI and too little for murder.

I didn’t realize bondsman got paid that much to get someone out. I thought it would make sense to owe them based on the 9k they have to post but not lose that entire amount when they appear in court so I assumed they were paid a 10-15% fee on the 9k posted

We saw a guy in BR was arrested for rape and it was set at 75k. The article said he got released on bond
ETA: do you remember the tinder rapist on here a few years ago? I think he was the example
