In the state of louisiana the fee is 12% of the bond. The Bondsman gets 10%, the jail gets the 2%. Plus now jails started charging a per charge fee. Most of the jails charge $30 per charge. Bossier & Webster charge $35.
For Example
On one $10,000 charge in Webster Parish, the bondsman would quote $1235. Of that $1235, the jail would receive $235. Depending on the bondsman insurance rate, say 1.6% of the $10,000 will be taken out of the quoted $1235.
Quoted $1235 - Jail Fees of $235 leaves $1000 - 1.6% insurance fee $160 = $840 left for the Bondsman.

What happens if you do a property bond on the 75k without a bondsman...the collateral has to be for the entire 75k or the 9k? And the 9k isn’t lost when the person shows up for court correct?

i don’t understand why you’re being an arse. The 12% (9k) is what needs to be posted to get them released correct? 10% of that is refunded when the suspect shows up for court correct?
I have a lot of experience with financial advisors and none with the bonding process bc I’ve never been arrested or bailed someone out of jail.
You said a bondsman gets paid 9k to bail the guy out...why in the frick would anyone throw away that much money instead of just putting it up themselves and getting it back when they show up to court?

TT, you lose whatever money you give a bondsman. I don't know how much they keep, but you are out the money you give them. You give them (typically 10%) of bail, kiss that goodbye.

Without a bondsman, you have to pony up the full amount.
