That is people wishing that it is more powerful?

That appears more like people blowing the storm off as inconsequential.

Two entirely different things.

This is a classic projection thread.

OP is disappointed in the storm, so he projects his disappointment onto the media.

The fact that he already deems the storm not catastrophic tells me this.

Y’all are so cute.

Scruffy agrees with the OP’s stance that the media is probably disappointed that this isn’t a map wiping storm like what Katrina did to West Mississippi.

Those institutions thrive on discord and destruction because people watch it.

The OP’s stance is highly accurate.

Is Scruffy projecting too?

Aside from what Scruffy posted above, does every person posting in the stickied threads fall into that category too?

Well yeah, so do I.

Disasters equal ratings.

Right.

But the OP also showed that he is one of the reasons why the media acts the ways it does. We, as a society, love disasters from afar.

Not yet.

You're getting close though.

Are you going to claim that media entities like things that are boring?

Let Scruffy know when he crosses that line.

By the way, Scruffy hasn’t watched any news on this storm.

I'm glad Scruffy agrees with me now.

Guess Scruffy can call himself cute too.

Scruffy agrees with you about the media.

He disagrees that the OP is projecting.

Scruffy doesn’t know anything about the OP.

Nah...but no one, regardless of profession actually wishes for more devastation. That’s simply ludicrous.

I thought the same thing until I saw the amount of rainfall they are gonna get. Will be horrible flooding.

Although I still dislike this nonsense with calling storms “superstorm/megastorm/hyperstorm/ultrastorm” like they are Pokémon moves. It’s just unnecessary

We will have to disagree on that one.

If it bleeds, it leads.

The MSM gets a hard on for devastation and destruction. Their nipples get hard. They may try to keep a straight face or fake tears but you know they eat it up.

The media really loves calamity and mass damage and destruction.

I'm pretty sure the people who had to get rescued last night due to the water flooding their homes wished they had listened to the media.

The levees breaking is what got the media into covering Katrina 24/7 post-landfall, not the Mississippi coast.
