As someone who deals with this stuff daily, believe me relative sea level rise is occurring.
Yes, and the rate of rise attributable to CC is roughly 1.7mm/year. That translates to ~ 1"/15yrs.

Sorry big rob McIlhenny (I presume)... Tabasco sauce is terrible. It's the worst, by a large margin, of any Louisiana hot sauce that I've tasted.

Your opinion is irrelevant to its dominance internationally.

Say, that sounds actionable...

Yup. It's time to shut down the entire domestic oil and gas industry before we destroy our environment. Import what is necessary from the ME for commerce and make a hard push toward renewables. We have more evironmentally friendly options but refuse to use them. It's time.

Why we continue to listen and cater to uneducated high school degree oil roughnecks rather than a consensus of scientists is mind boggling.

really a shame. Agreed.

when you're talking about coastal wetland, inches matter.

Also when talking about other things....

It bothers me that people cannot tell the difference between climate change and subsidence.

But how much 1%, 5%, 50%? We don't know, but climate change people will tell you it's all humans fault. We have no idea if that's true or not which makes their arguement disingenuous and disqualifies their opinion. I'm willing to listen if we can figure it out, but them acting like they know the answer it just as dumb as people that say the climate isn't changing.

I've never thought that they are saying that it is all humans' fault, but merely that our impact is accelerating it and/or modifying it in some impacful way

That thing was packaged so poorly it deserved to fail.

And it's definitely climate change cited as the root cause of marsh loss in this article obviously forwarded to you by your aunt?

It can't possibly be the massive erosion experienced in south Louisiana since the levees were installed?

It's funny how "climate change" is only causing the water in that specific area of Louisiana to rise. hmmmm

Highly debatable and not according to NASA.

So if we all agree man changed the way our coastline protects itself, why are we so skeptical humans could impact the global ecosystem in other ways?

The cause of the erosion is identified, and the solution, freeing the river, to fix it can be more or less agreed upon, but unlikely to take place.

The cause of global warming is essentially unknown, and very likely to have more than a single cause, or hell even be natural. Also, none of the "fixes" offered by anyone actually do anything but impose more taxes on everyone.

The last solution from the Paris Accords was to impose restrictions on U.S. industry, but absolutely no restrictions on China and others for about 30 years, while simultaneously paying China for their participation, with most of the funding coming from the U.S.

So China was able to have their biggest competitor handcuff themselves while paying China for the privilege. Kudos to them!

If Avery Island goes under water, Alexandria would be covered by 75 feet of water.

This is what I was coming to say. Our family camp is down that way. The old timers the only real erosion they've seen is what was caused by the salt dome implosion at Lake Peigneur.

We hunt 1000 or so acres just west of Avery Island and I say we have more lilies and roseau than ever before.

I agree with that but what can be done about it, nothing

That's the debatable part. But to even suggest that we know what exacerbates it and consider limiting or adjusting those things to not make it worse is high treason on this board, so I'll leave it alone and go light some coal on fire, start my car and let it run, and dig up some permafrost, and then get on with my life.
