Is she a professional? I know a lot of professionals that don’t want to change their last names. I can understand a husband wanting to have the same last name as their children, so it’s not completely Beta in my opinion.

If her family had a history where I felt that keeping the name going was important I don't see the issue at all. It's not like my last name is truly that important to my being.

My mother never changed her last name over, she did go by Mrs. (fathers last name) though to everyone we knew.

We had a buddy marry a woman with the last name of Meister.

As you can imagine, we all thought it would have been neat to call him the ____-meister if he took her name.

Probably the only way I wouldn't judge that move.
