This writer at BRBR believes it's terrible.

While people debate the merits of a new city, and people look at the services they expect from the City-Parish this is a timely article.

We simply aren't getting the services we pay for, and we see that every day. Roads don't get striped, trash is everywhere, signs don't get replaced, ditches don't get cleaned, sidewalks are unattended, and grass needs cutting. And according to this article, even the people you call are one big hot mess.

It is terrible. The article is spot on. I recently sent two emails to department heads to get some things done and zero response.

Call 311 and the bitch on the phone is so rude, I want to reach trough and strangle her.

I'm thinking I'm just going to fill in the massive hole in my front yard and deal with the consequences later.

I hope you as joe blow citizen weren’t expecting them to jump off their arse and help you. This is akin to the people emailing TAF and demanding answers why Joe Alleva hasn’t been fired

Schools are beyond horrible
Road maintenance is pisspoor
Sewage is a joke
Flood protection is embarrassing

Libraries, garbage services, and parks are okay.

I think it would be more akin to people emailing TAF and demanding answers why they were assigned the same season tickets as someone else

People who work for the government are supposed to communicate with citizens as to issues they are having, especially when its an issue that your department may have direct control over

I’m not saying what should happen, or how government SHOULD work. I’m talking about how our local government works.

I struggle thinking of a single public service that the City Parish does consistently well. A single one. Schools are terrible, every DPW project is behind schedule and done shoddily, the crime speaks for itself, and every single layer of the administrative arm of the gov't is full of the most incompetent people imaginable.

Flood protection? WTF? The citizens are literally trying to get DPW to lower their building standards to allow their homes to flood MORE to save money.

I wasn't expecting much. Maybe at least forward the email to a subordinate or send me back some boilerplate email that they are looking into it. That's how I do business if I can't personally address something.
