Honestly, the daily patio happy hours at home + watching my savings account grow rapidly has given me a new perspective on my previous bar/restaurant habits.
But the whole point of happy hour is to socialize and get away from home. I’m not disagreeing with you especially about the saving money part but it is what it is when it comes to wanting to gather with friends away from someone’s home.
I’m hoping the happy hour industry doesn’t change too much. That would be a social paradigm shift that we have never seen before.

They make $2/hr and the rest cash. They won't be claiming the cash. Double dipping on unemployment and working for tips.
You don't know what happens. When these employees become employed, they are submitted to a statewide payroll system. If they don't begin to claim the wages they earned the week in which they earn them, they'll be immediately prevented from collecting benefits.
If they somehow slip through the cracks, the next quarter, when their employer submits their wages, if they have benefits claimed the same quarter in which an employer pays them, they'll get an automatic overpayment and those fatass tax returns get held up, the amount of the overpayment gets deducted from them, and they get whatever's left over, with potential penalties and interest and suspensions from collecting future benefits moving forward for certain periods of time.
If they end up not getting a return, they'll suspend licenses, prevent renewals on everything from liquor licenses, permits, driver's licenses, fishing permits, etc.
