It’s a lifestyle.

I choose to not support their lifestyle.

I love Houston. Been here a decade now.

But I am glad i no longer live within the city. I'm 20 minutes away from everything on the weekends, but don't deal with pandhandlers, crime, and overall shitiness involved in all "inner cities". ahhh, white suburbia. how much i love thee.

Anyone else in Houston notice this? Is it like that, this in Louisiana?

You have never been to Baton Rouge in the Siegen/Acadian/College areas, huh?

Buddy of mine came back from the war with a giant suitcase stuffed completely full of the Saddam bank notes. He gave us all big stacks of bills for the cars and we would give it to the beggars all over Fayetteville. We would tell them to take the bills to any local bank branch and they would convert it to dollars. About a month later a notification was made to all commands at Ft. Bragg from the base CO - “stop giving Iraqi money to the homeless...”

That being said, I am a believer that these people will continue to beg at lights as long as it is profitable to do so. Quit paying them and they will go find work.

The people complained and the city scrapped the make shift tent encampments downtown and it’s like they dispersed all over the city.

The tent city under 59 just north of Minute Maid is back up and thriving starting at Commerce Street.
