Do you (or any other diver here) own their own equipment (other than the watch)?

We visit a small fishing cabin on a clear, quiet lake up North every summer. Most of it is 6-10ft deep with a few areas of 20-60ft deep. At the end of this summer, I found a fishing pole in the water. There is very little boat traffic. I thought an air compressor and a pair of tanks, BCDs, regulators,etc may add a fun pastime for the wife, FIL, and myself when the fishing is bad. We all are SCUBA certified and would be pretty comfortable in the water there.


Anyone got a recommendation on which gear to grab/avoid or a nice “package” deal? Obviously not pushing huge depths, training newbies or anything like that.

Also, my Citizen Promaster Diver knows it’s not in the Panerai’s league, but he’s glad to be his blue-collared and blue-faced, oyster-banded fourth cousin, twice removed. Even if he only has mineral glass and a little scar that’s a daily reminder that I didn’t spring for a sapphire crystal.

Honestly, the Promasters are a better actual dive watch than any dive watch I own irrespective of price.

We own our own gear but we have had most of it for over 10 years and I don't keep up with the trends. I will say we got new fins last years and love the Cressi Gara Modular Sprint if you like a full-foot fin. We use our dive fins for snorkeling due to efficiency because it is not unusual for us to spend 2-3 hours snorkeling so ours see lots of wear. The other thing is if you have anyone you are outfitting that tends to run cold (my wife does) the Bare Reactive wet suits have been a godsend for her.
