By "fricked" you mean transferred to another unit or desk duty until this passes over. Or worst case scenario he's fired and then hired by another city down the road.

Watch your sass, punk. Those police unions are keeping you alive and your mom unraped every goddamn day. Show respect.

There certainly is... Your reading comprehension fricking sucks.
The truck driver whose blood sample they wanted was in no way responsible for the accident. It was a high speed chase. The perp fleeing from the cops hit the truck driver head-on. He didn't cause anything, and wasn't being charged with anything.

Most likely...but I'd like to think he'll get sued and take a financial hit paying for representation since he will not see criminal punishment.

Just watched that video. Wow. If I had witnessed that I may be in jail too because I'm not sure I would have been able to hold back and not tackle that cop before he cuffed her.

This is a bizarre case. Like almost NO ONE is on the side of the cop.
He's fricked six ways from sunday.
Harass a white nurse doing her job? Yeah that won't get you much sympathy

It is way too common for cops to use their authority to enforce an incorrect understanding of the law.

From my understanding of the article, the cop was just doing what the dispatch supervisor told him to. It even says the supervisor came to the hospital to talk to the nurse.
Sounds like he should be fricked first.

In Texas that's felony assault against a health care provider.

OP should change title, as far as I can tell it wasn't illegal it was just against Hospital policy. Hospital policy doesn't Trump the law,so while it's dumb to arrest the nurse I could totally see obstruction of justice.
You're catching hell for this but you're correct. When I was a Border Patrol agent, we tried to stay away from hospitals but there were times when we arrested people there.
Sometimes the hospital staff would tell us we had to leave because they had a policy that we weren't allowed to be there and they weren't allowed to let us into their rooms. We had this same battle. Policy doesn't trump law.
Now, having said that, I freely admit I don't know if Utah state law allows for blood draws on unconscious people. Most locals have officers that are trained phlebotomist that can obtain their own sample. Either way, it's not a good look for the detective or his agency.
ETA: After reading the thread, I see major differences between invasive drawing of blood and simply arresting people within the premises.

My wife is a RN and is in management at a local hospital here and this is a short summary of what she said.
1) They will draw no blood samples from a patient unless the same 3 conditions are met or an immediate family member give consent.
2) They are instructed that if a police officer is out of line they are asked to leave, if that doesn't work the shift supervisor is called (police), if that doesn't work then the next higher department which in our case would be parish is called in.
3) The hospital administrator and the highest ranking legal are supposed to report to the hospital if the police supervisor has to be called.
4) That cop cost his department a bunch of money IMHO, some things are right and this one is definitely wrong.
5) I'd be willing to bet almost any amount of money that there is an atty that has been in contact with the nurse.
As a side note that cop is a dumbazz because one day that nurse or that hospital may be where he is taken after a wreck or being shot. Would you help him if he treated you that way?

This is the kind of story that really gets me.
Most everyone wants to support law enforcement. They have a tough job.
But then you see things like this and you wonder. That nurse seems likes she just wants to do the right thing. She has in writing what she thinks she is supposed to do.
If there is a question in the officer's mind, why didn't he asked to talk to her supervisor? Where was a doctor ?
Nurses do a really great job but in a hospital they are at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to issues like this.
My guess is the cop didn't appreciate a nurse knowing a procedure he was trying to skirt and reacted the way that he did.
He also may have a few "women" issues as well.
I really hope that nurse is OK and is taken care of.
As for that cop - he may ought to find another line of work.
