I lived on East Blvd between I-10 and Government 2009-2010.
In hindsight, wtf were we thinking. Our neighbor across the street murdered someone at the corner store at East/Myrtle where video started Memorial Day 2009 I think. Drug related. Swat team came looking for him.
We were the only honkies but had no issues with neighbors or crime while there.

It's funny hearing them complain about all those businesses being shut down. Hmm I wonder...

They’re speaking English, and it’s understandable.
They’re just people.
Throwing money at the situation won’t fix it. They need strong families, and the powers that be have been intentionally destroying that since Africans first arrived here, first by breaking up families in slavery and then through social welfare programs that allowed anti-social behavior in the men.
Y’all can say I’m absolving them of blame for their personal actions, but I’m not. All we can do from a legal standpoint is hold each person accountable for their own action. But from a macro level and a moral perspective, it is wrong to fail to attempt to understand and address the reasons anti-social behavior is so widespread among the poor in the U.S.
At the very least, Christians should not be able to watch such a video and not feel compassion for people who grow up in such a place and with such bad influences.

Always interesting to hear what teachers made an positive impact on someone. Was also nice to hear the comment about how racism isn't like it used to be. Hopefully things will become better with time... Looking back at my time @ LSU, it's pretty wild how close all that is to campus.

Hmm.
Applebee Mews in Athens. Churches was across the street. I could make a totally new thread about the Athens Churches Chicken.

This is what isn't being done and is the #1 thing that needs to be done, that is doable from a government perspective.
