Doubtful. Singapore Airlines Flight 22 is flying a similar route at 37,000 feet.

Maybe due to the nature of the flight? Lower altitude = more oxygen in the air = less thermal within the cabin.

I could be completely wrong but the logic makes sense.

ETA: Judging by Flightaware, Air Honkus will enter US airspace ~10:45

I have no clue as well. There are several aviation experts who regularly post, including some commercial pilots. Just curious what their explanations could be. Anyway, excited for Honkus and his family.

Did some quick research and this is what I found...

quote:

Low-altitude routes are not as congested as the high-altitude ones, allowing planes to travel faster. The less-busy flight paths also enable planes to get off the ground more quickly instead of having to wait in line to be cleared for takeoff, said FAA spokesman Paul Turk. In addition, planes flying low-altitude routes spend less time climbing to cruising altitude and descending for a landing.

Wonder why Kalitta Air 371 planned to and is cruising at 27,000 feet? They usually cruise about 10,000 feet higher.

Depends on sheer and the likes... I’ve been on 4hr flights that cruise at 25k feet. I’ve been on 1hr flights that go above 30.

Depends on weather conditions, wind sheer, and other aircraft in the area

My non-professional guess

Updates from his quarantine should be fun.

Could you imagine being on that flight and being scared as shite to clear your throat?

I'm guessing everyone (or at least civilians) was/were required to wear masks. We've seen how far they went to protect the pilots. I couldn't imagine them not doing the same with medical personnel and something to protect passengers from each other. It's not like it's Singapore Airlines where they have mini suites.

Oh 100% they have masks on. But even normally I give someone the stink eye if they are coughing on my flight. There is nowhere to hide from the shite. Even the normal medical masks do little.
