Great point and it's surprising you're the first to bring it up. They're in their home country so I'm sure there's no way to get them to safety. The best that can be done is to leave them as prepared and safe as they can be/funds will allow while left behind.

So what is going on over there? Glad to hear positivity!

i also spoke with liza lin from WSJ who is supposed to be writing an article on our situation.
Wasn't she the one held in a NoKo prison with another journalist a decade ago?

Please keep us in the loop. I’m praying that y’all can get the flight out Tuesday. I’ll keep reaching out to people I know and hope I can help. I feel so terrible for y’all.

quote:
Rhode Island residents Honkus, his wife and two children had traveled to Yichang, a city of about four million near the Three Gorges Dam in Hubei province and 200 miles west of Wuhan, to celebrate Lunar New Year with the extended family of Honkus' Wife.
Honkus, who had arrived in Yichang on Jan. 20 and was set to leave this coming Friday, said his family was very worried about his youngest son, who is 3 months old. Public transportation in Yichang has been shut down since Friday. “We’re not looking for special treatment,” said the 38-year-old loan officer, who hasn’t stepped outside for four days for fear of getting infected by the virus. “We are just looking for a way to get my boy home.”

I thought that you no longer lived in LA?
Is prison similar to the military in that you get to keep your home of record?

If one of these internet nerds gives you trouble, I’ll drive to their house and beat their arse in front of their wife and kids.

Saw where you said a GFM wasn't necessary but will monitor this thread in case that changes. Wish there was a way I could help get you all out.
The Chinese government can move mountains when they put their mind to it, hopefully evacuation of expats with families becomes a high priority with them and our State Department coordinating.
God Speed for your families safe and healthy return especially for your little baw.

And the cut of the interview they chose was about him feeling guilty about traveling with the baby.
I'm sure they could have chosen something else.

I know they shut down public transportation but have they restricted all movement between towns?
If they do let you pass do you have a means of transportation right now?
I would think making a diplomatic flight would be considered an emergency and you would be allowed to pass
