Honk for Dan and Jake

On Bluff Road in Ascension parish, about a half mile northwest of the Bayou Manchac, there is non professional sign by a driveway that says "Honk for Dan and Jake."
It's been there for years and never found out the story behind it.
What's up with that? (Yeah, I've honked.)

Dan and Jake used to wave at cars in that area.

Two handicapped "kids"
They used to be on the back of a golf cart everyday and loved the cars and big trucks passing.
My guess is they would be in their 30's now if not older.
I see the path is still cut through the field, so maybe they are still on their daily drives and activities.

Somewhere in my mind, I wondered if that might be the case. Thanks.

I liked it before your edit. Although it was a better description of the Lalonde brothers at the end of Allison Drive.

Two brothers with what I suspect was cerebral palsy or something similar. They had a golf cart with what looked like special chairs for them to sit in in the back. So when you drove by you saw the back of the cart and them smiling and somewhat waving as you honked. Everyone honked. I miss seeing them as it has probably been 10 years since I last saw them. I hope they are doing ok and yeah, probably close to 30 by now.

This came up a while back but I can't find the thread. I found their mom's Facebook page at the time but can't find that either.
I'll find it.

Here you go. This is their mom's Facebook page.
Holly Hebert. Her boys, Dan and Jake, have Cerebral Palsy. They loved riding to the road on the golf cart and waving at cars passing by. That's how the Honk sign came about.

I am 44 years old and grew up in the metropolis of Dutchtown. That sign or a sign has been there as long as I can remember. At least 30 years. I drive Bluff Rd almost every day and in 30 years have only seen them a handful of times but I do honk every time.

I did a fundraiser at AP schools for 16 years. The boys were at pville middle around 2008ish so they are possibly mid to late 20s now.

One of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of knowing.
Also, KEEP HONKING. Those kids get so excited every time they hear a honk!

Thank you for asking. I've always wondered the same thing. Never honked before, but will next time I pass.

I pass by every day on Bluff since 2013. Only seen them once or twice and it has been 5-6 yrs I think. Between the storm and power line work the fence line has been cleared up.

I have seen that sign for years now and always wondered what it was for.
Side notes there is an older man that rides his handicap scooter down bluff road. I have seen him a few times early in the morning in the curve. The scooter can’t go more that 5 mph. I’m not sure where he is going but it is a death trap.
