Do I agree with that though? Without knowing any real details of this situation? There is a reason my reply to you was "speaking of jumping to conclusions..."
If you truly feel that way then yes I jumped to that conclusion. I suspect that you quietly agree with me, however.
I didnt downvote you btw.

We know nothing of why this guy got shot. I have no idea what is likely to happen at this moment.

My life would be very stressful if the amount of downvotes I got here bothered me

Quite reading after this.
Not trigger happy cops.
Idiot home owner.
Without reading the rest of the article I guarantee you the police didn't sneak into his house after he shot and killed the intruder. Dumb arse choose to continue handling a fire arm that LE were arriving on the a scene that they were unclear of who was who.
frick this. LEOs should have an obligation to verify who they're shooting. This could end up being a good shooting, but we don't know enough right now to blame the homeowner.

I want someone to disagree with this just to see how many pages the thread goes.

yup.
i remember reading about a state that acquitted a guy who shot a cop during a no-knock raid on his home.

So the scenario is now that you absolutely have to shoot back to live? If the cops were wrongly shooting at you and you killed t hem ion the process, I'd hope that legally you would be cleared.
Well whether there is another option or not js not a requirement to invoke self defense in LA. Whether it's the smartest choice and whether it's legal are two different discussions.

So your very specific hypothetical is now if cops bust down your door and you happen to just be standing right there with a gun and they start shooting, do I shoot back or just die?
Did you not read the story in the OP? Police entered the home after hearing gunshots and encountered the homeowner holding a gun then shot him. It’s not a very specific hypothetical, it’s literally the only facts of the fricking case.
quote:
Police described the scene as chaotic. Upon arriving, officers heard gunshots fired from inside the home, and encountered an armed man, police said. An officer fired his gun, hitting the man who turned out to be a resident. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Which is why my first response to your hypothetical was that regardless of legality it is likely unwise to shoot at cops. No idea why it is such an unpopular opinion. Do I think cops should be able to unlawfully shoot at me? No. Will my first instinct be to return fire at cops that are wrongfully shooting at me? Also no.

There is at least one in this thread already.

Why do you keep jumping back and forth between the story in the OP and slack's hypothetical? frick man, have a cup of coffee so you can stay on one line of thought and stop trying to mix posts up.

Are there going to be riots and protest because of this shooting?
Where is Colin Kaepernick? LaBron James?

I’m not. You are. I specifically said I’m not talking about slacks hypothetical and never have.

You were literally the first post after my response to his hypothetical and quoted my post.

That's what in saying though - let's assume you had to shoot your way out of your own home. Let's act like you made it out.
Wasn’t there a story a couple years ago where a guy shot and killed a cop in a no-knock, no-notice entry and he won his case? I don’t know if that would be of the same kind of case as to what you’re describing because I would imagine in your scenario the cops would’ve announced their presence.
Either way, if the cops were wrongfully engaging you, especially if you aren’t the person that committed the crime in the first place, I would hope our “justice” system would right that wrong and you would be cleared. But it’s hard to say.

If you’re referring to that hypothetical, he only asked the legality of that man shooting back. Everything else about the story stayed the same until he asked about cops shooting into the house which was never a part of a conversation I had with you.
It’s clear you don’t wish to do anything but your same old routine so carry on.

What do you mean if? I replied specifically to him and answered a question specifically about his hypothetical.

You're the one trying to get all semantical and basically arguing about nothing.

Not so sure I want to jump to conclusions just yet.
Unless the old guy pointed his gun at the cops, I'll consider them to be the villain here.

I am guessing you werent around for the St Louis riots threads I was posting in a few years ago.
