I recently watched a few documentaries about homeopathy. I wanted to comment on a few things and get your experiences or understanding of homeopathy in the context of the comments below. Do you know anyone who is using this stuff or believing it??

(This thread is not knocking natural remedies such as useful plants such as aloe vera, tea tree oil, ginger, etc which are used for minor ailments. Those actually are ingredients that exist. Homeopathy meanwhile, include such "ingredients' as the light from a planet (yes, planet) or a bit of the Berlin Wall (to treat PTSD, isolation and even asthma).

One documentary explained how their medicines are made. Apparently they take one drop of whatever med they are prescribing and it is diluted to the equivalent of putting ONE aspirin in Lake Tahoe and then taking a few drops of the lake 2 years later to cure a headache.

The ridiculousness is that they claim that the more dilute their meds are, the stronger they are.

Oh, and that water molecules "remember" being exposed to the drop of the meds so they magically retain the medicinal properties because they have been shaken in a special way.

Another documentary was about a woman who had treatable cancer, was deluded into believing a homeopath could cure her.

Months later her cancer because incurable and she died not too long after. She had suffered terribly while doing the homeopath treatment because the homeoquack told her if she had ANY pain med or any other meds that it would keep the homeopathic meds from working. What the patient went thru was horrific and made worse by her husband believe in homeopathy and he supported the quack.

It just pisses me off. Most homeopathic remedies are either 99.99% water or sugar pills with a drop of that water on them.

What are your experiences or knowledge about any of this?

See, that is fine. Rose hips have Vitamin C in them and there are other remedies such as those which are fine. Supplements such as them can be helpful and at least you are getting the ingredient you paid for if you get it from a reputable source.

But homeopathy dilutes any effective ingredient so you may think you are getting something but it is just water or a sugar pill. IT's just bizarre. people are paying for water!!

Simultaneously with taking s homeopathic, a piece of plastic came out at the tear duct that was left "in" my eye during surgery. It had rolled up on the surface behind the eye.
18 months of aggravation.
Glad it's out.

I didn't really know this until fairly recently when I saw a lot of hoopla about this miracle shite that was keeping people from getting the flu this winter. I checked out what they were talking about and here is what I read:

Oscillococinium

That is the danger in social media...the herd mentality is really strong in people and if the leader of the herd is a dumbass, the whole population ends up doing some ridiculous stuff.

It doesn't work for diseases like cancer.

It may work for small things like a headache because a lot of those things are mental and if you believe it works then it will go away. The placebo effect

It's diluted to the point where there is literally 0 active ingredient

And people still think it does something

It actually makes sense when you look at its historical development. It came about when many medicines were more dangerous than the disease. It probably wound up saving a lot of people back then. Of course, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s utter nonsense.

This didn't work out for Steve Jobs either.

These snake oil salesmen that deceive desperate people are vile filth.
