How do homeless people live through nights like tonight?

There’s almost always a charity/nonprofit in the area that provides coverage.

All the bums you see on street corners around town are sitting in a Motel 6 shooting heroin right now. The real homeless are in a shelter downtown.

Hospital waiting rooms are one, any other 24 hour business provided they aren't disruptive.

This. The ones sitting in a group behind Circle K are addicts who cannot and will not go to shelters due to their rules, so they suffer through nights like this outside so they can still inject that sweet H into their veins.

This 100%. My son was running the LSU lakes this morning at 7am. I dropped him and went to Walmart at College. There were two men standing over a cup of coffee by a trash can inside the front of the store by the bathrooms. They were dirty and in tattered clothes. I did a double take but then realized what was going on.
What caught my eye and heart was how embarrassed and vulnerable they looked.

They no longer wanted to make eye contact and feed me a story of hardship to get my loose change and dollars. They wanted to remain unnoticed and warm inside the store until the sun warmed up the streets.

How did they survive the worst pandemic (despite highest survival rate) of all time?

I was shocked to learn that the homeless in Vegas mostly live in the storm sewers. Next to NOLA I've never seen so many homeless and hustlers on the sidewalks. And of course the slutty chicks out there trying to get paid to take pictures with you. I've never seen so many whores out on the streets at the same time.
