Probably lost it to a Mantis Shrimp.

It woould be far less expensive to simply house them and pay them a guaranteed income...but ain't no way we doing that, we will by god force them to comply or we will spend piles of money keeping them in jail on panhandling charges...
I don't think there's any one solution to the homeless problem, but suggesting that they can't be jailed is silly.
And for the record, the best way to get them to move out of an area in terms of RoI is Log Cabin syrup. When I policed, any time I found some hobo's collection of shite I would pop the top on the ol' Log Cabin and douse their shite in sugary goodness.
It would take about 5 minutes before the ants came to investigate and before long all of their garbage would be covered in them.
They'd take what they could and we'd call waste management to dispose of the rest. Easy peasy.

Reagan repealed an act passed in 1980.
Yes, and during his administration he shut down government heath facilities that had been around for 50 to 100 years. Please do not call me a liar as my kin worked on his staff and to this day regrets what they did back then. Especially when it came back to affect a sibling about 20 years later.
This was not some internet misinformation but real people I knew personally and I actually lived through it and did not get my information from some modern click baiting moron of modern times.

If police would keep arresting the homeless for violations of local ordinances and have to spend 30 days in jail, they would move somewhere else.
And during their time of incarceration all government assistance should be cut off. No drugs, fast food or electronics for 30 days.
Shelters and government assistance are put in place for people who really need it to get back on their feet, not for people who are abusing it.

Awesome. Trap them into their condition. They'll never sober up now.
Are they going to sober up living under a bridge and making a mess of things? Seems like its improbable.
I ain't a christian so I ain't hampered by any idea of christianity but it seems like not doing something to help the less fortunate regardless of why they are less fortunate is the right thing to do....and if it ain't the right thing at least you ain't dodging human feces in the street....

Its a dang shame y'all couldn't just shoot 'em. Yeah, youd get an activist once in a while and some children but they wouldn't just move to another homeless encampment. What a society we live in.

But we'd get tons of calls about people (mostly women) afraid to take the trash out as they were closing their shop because some loser was drunk or huffing toluene or whatever.
When their bullshite began to affect the normal operation of the citizens, that's where I drew the line.
They can go live in the desert and collect shoes and sniff glue to their heart's content. They just don't get to do it where normal people are trying to make a life.

We should put them in camps like we did with the Japanese until we can figure something out. 100% serious.

You really do not understand what is going on.
Google Henry Earl most arrested man
They called him James Brown because he danced like James Brown and was mentally unable to live in society. He was not a criminal and in the old days he would have been placed in Eastern State (a long term locked mental facility, now torn down to give UK the land). Without a safe place he would be picked up on a 24, 48, or 72 hour hold which was not long enough to get the meds he needed in him and thanks to Regan he spent the 1980's till his death either on the street or in jail where he was attacked by real criminals. I knew this man personally and often tried to get mental help intervention but the facilities were no longer there.
Prison / Jail was no place for him but that is where he was placed at 8 x the cost to the taxpayers than the cost of the old Eastern State. When not in jail he drank to self medicate.

You probably believe this but have you ever spent time with this part of America? Mental health problems are real but we now have a society that does not believe this. we also have a society that stigmatizes it as tho it were catching like the flu. I knew Henry Earl and he was legit homeless, as was he legit crazy, but he was always kind to me and would share a laugh and a story.

People whining to a therapist or searching for a prescription cure are commonplace today.
Don't believe me? Watch the downvotes pour in on this post from all of the weaklings who need chemicals, drugs and/or a shoulder to cry on to get through the day.
Americans are fat, lazy and weak and it's only getting worse.

We are allowing "victims" the media space but not equal time to "survivors"
There are plenty of real humans with real issues but nobody wants to deal with them.

How can you say no one is dealing with them? We're letting drugs and therapists become our new mommies and daddies. It's pathetic.

Why wouldn't you want to be homeless? You get to poop on the street, yell at people and do drugs.
Posted on 3/16/23 at 5:07 pm to CrappyPants
You can do all those things and own a home at the same time.

Has anyone suggested processing poors into food for other poors?
Because we could process poors into food for other poors

Of course. "We need to do something" then becomes "We didn't go far enough."
You're not helping by subsidizing their existing problems.
