Homeless dude had no interest in checking ole baw's knuckles. Big mistake.

quote:

Carter said he asked a man to leave the property on Wednesday morning around 10 a.m.

Carter believes this man is homeless and said he has dealt with him before.

"He goes to light up what looks like a joint, and I say, 'Hey dude, you cannot smoke that here, you need to move along,'" Carter said. "And he said, ‘I’m not going anywhere, this is where I’m at.'"

Carter said the man threw a cup of water on him. Carter then called the police.

"I’m letting them know this gentleman’s become very irate, he’s become violent, he’s threatened me multiple times and at this point, he’s threatening my life," Carter said.

Carter said the man began to walk away before turning around and heading back in his direction.

"At that point, he runs straight at me. I had my phone in my hand, I had to switch hands with my phone and I have to handle my business, you know, and defend myself. I wasn’t going to stop until he was subdued," Carter said.

Based off the information gathered, officers determined that there was no further risk of bodily injury. Due to the fact that the assault by contact did not occur in the presence of law enforcement, and that there was no further risk of injury, the officers determined that they did not have the legal authority to make an on-scene arrest.

So the police didn't arrest him because he didn't attack the guard in front of the police?

What the frick?

The person on the other end of that call could have realistically not known anything was awry.

Even though he doesn’t have enough money for Sonic, he still needs to check the knuckles

There's a longer video that shows the homeless guy try to get up later and he's so f'd up he falls down again.

Ask homeless man to leave property. Puts him to sleep on said property.

This guy is a walking contradiction... With a heavy right hand.

I don’t get that either. They said the guy can press charges if he wants.

What's the cuck in the white shirt doing? Trying to act like the parking attendant was in the wrong? Looks like he tries to hold him back a little.

Yeah that was what struck me too....jsut said wcrew it and let him go....literally a "too much ppwk" situation

If that bum commits another assault, that's 100% on Austin PD

if another citizen has an encounter with him, and the bum gets hurt enough for EMS, you can it will be the citizen up to their eyeballs in legal bills, not the bum or the city.

Austin needs to address the issue they've created with ordnance, but will not...like most cities, homeless and the things it brings (crime/drug use/littering/health issues) are viewed with compassion and allowed to flourish
