My house was built in 1996, and was hard wired for security. Every window and door has a sensor. Control panel on the wall. Power supply in a bedroom closet. Very 1996. Pre-internet.

I would like to update my system. Should I keep the hard-wired system and just update the panel? I really like what I see and read about SimpliSafe and similar systems. Seems better than this old dinosaur.

TIA.

You think some beeping internet box is better than a dinosaur to keep your family safe?! You, sir, are crazy.

FWIW, you'd get great answers on the tech board

It uses the cell towers. We have SimpliSafe and it works well. I could defend the Alamo for a few hours too so I sleep fine
