Home-schooled seniors turn into shitty arse college students.

From my experience, home school kids are way smarter and way more fricked up than the rest of us.

You never heard the story? Second date. My apt(only cause I was really tired and made it clear I wasn't gonna be the one claiming his virginity)....watching a movie with him. Fell asleep on couch while we were watching a movie. Woke up to him smiling at me all creepy and saying "you look like an angel when you are sleeping." Then he starts singing the Aerosmith song from Armageddon to me.

Home school is great when public school fail or refuse to fix the issues they face. Btw:
If you want a smarter student who succeeds, home school. If you want a druggie who can't read or know history, public school is for you. Social awkwardness can be avoided through clubs, sports or get togethers.

That shows nothing.
What public schools did they use for their research? Was it some horrible school district known to have low test scores?
Not every public school is filled with druggies.
Still doesn't address how most homeschooled kids are weird as hell.

Most of the kids I've seen that are home schooled tend to talk more like adults. Their conversations with others are just weird. They are kids but don't use kid words and kid sentences and have no sense of where they belong in social settings.

Right Rachel.
We did both private school and home school with our children.
The idea that only the well-educated parents can do it well is bunk. I've seen too many HS grad or less parents home school kids who have gone on to advanced degrees with relative ease.
Those that paint it one way or another don't know what they're talking about.

I went to public school in BR and I didn't encounter gang fights, drug dealing, and teachers hitting me.
I'm in favor of exactly one of those two tactics, for the record.
As to the general question, I wouldn't Home-School a kid but I'll allow that you can get functioning adults out of that system. I agree that it probably retards social development in some students. It always seemed to me to be a over-reaction to the problems of public education, an exchange of one set of challenges for another.

Those numbers are warped, they only account for some home schooled students vs all public school students. They have an article on Google that goes into more details.

Mr Homeschooled Creep I mentioned earlier was actually pretty smart. I will give him that.
Still didn't change the fact that he ended up being fricking weird as hell and socially awkward. I would not be surprised if that guy ended up arrested for stalking some other chick.
Yeah and who was the one sponsoring/paying for that study? If it's someone in favor of homeschooling of course the numbers are gonna be skewed in their favor.

Homeschool is for people who can't afford private school but are unhappy with the public school system
Private is for people who are unhappy but have money
Rarely does a parent love to homeschool. It's more of a necessity to them. So I am not sure weirdness can be a defining factor.

I have lots of friends that home school until about 5th grade then it's time to send them to school

I also see a lot of public school kids switching over in 6th grade.
Public middle school must be the worst.

So, if a homeschool kid makes it to college they (statistically) perform better. What is the percentage of home schooled kids making it to college.
The only ones I know first hand left Central Private (Central want independent yet) for homeschooling. It was a disaster.

I was homeschooled up until I went to A&M.
Being homeschooled doesn't mean one is doomed to being socially awkward. Also, I find it pretty amusing that if a person is socially awkward and was public/private schooled, no one blames it on their school matriculation
Generally, folks don't know my siblings and I were homeschooled unless we tell them.
