Probably because they moved to the suburbs due to street parking bothered them to the point it kept them up at night. When in Rome, do as the Romans. City living and suburban living both have their understood social protocol. The real assholes are the ones who refuse to acknowledge it.

Don’t ever move uptown Nola. So many trashy people with Tesla’s and G Wagons that park on the street in front of their million dollar houses. Only the $1.5+ mil houses have garages.

One of my neighbors is basically insane. His garage is packed with high end tools and shite (his family owns a large manufacturing business), so he parks his f250 in the driveway and his fricking z06 in the street. The vette now has dry rotted tires and he left the rear hatch open and it’s rained in it. It’s a 2007 model. He’s recently added a used Excursion.
The Woodlands gestapo HOA showed their weakness as they can only lien the property at time of sale.
Nice guy but he’s batshit crazy....and trashy, wealthy family or not.

Same with mine, plus a motorcycle. The bike is the only thing they park in the garage. And they just love to park right at the end of my driveway, even though they live about 100 yards down the street. I park in the street for two reasons
1 to play basketball in the driveway
2 to slow the teenage girl down that like to go 40 down the lane

It must suck to be you. I have never once in my life even thought about this question. If it bothers you so much, move. The properties around here are big enough that we can't even see each other's driveways, much less, worry about anything any of the neighbors are doing. Once you live like this, you'll never go back to any other preference.

Our HOA keeps that in check. We also have a facebook group for the neighborhood and the ladies shame people who do this. Turn them in. Very effective. Large majority is people sub 30. I love our HOA.

Yeah when I poured my drive I extended 7’ past the 3rd garage bay and made it wide enough to park two vehicles side by side.
If you are parked in street during business hours our HOA won’t bother you a bit. It’s the overnight street parking that is frowned upon.

I live in a small town on a L shaped dead end street. A large antebellum home anchors the L. Our local state rep has a shite rent house at the turn off to the street. Thankfully, the house is so shitty that no tenant stays there very long, and then it is empty for a while.
But, when the tenants are there, it is some ghetto trash. There is no driveway, so they park wherever, often on the street which is very narrow at that point. Right now, new tenant moving in, some rimmed up Caddie in the back yard and five junk shite appliances on the front porch.
