How negotiable is the personal property % of it? My current policy has approx $251k of personal property coverage, but I don’t even have 100k worth currently.
My current company states it’s a non-negotiable % of the dwelling replacement value, but I’m shopping around and I already received a higher dwelling and lower personal property.
I just don’t need but $100k personal property coverage. Is this possible in tandem with a 500k dwelling coverage?

FIFY
Do trailers even have a personal property rider?

It’s usually just a percentage of the house value, some may not be inclined to manually deviate.

How old are you? You accumulate stuff over the years - i'd guess it would be $400k to replace all of my things. Just my couch and 1 bed would cost $10k to replace if something happened. The thing that concerns me is my collectibles - which I don't believe are insured and we're talking a couple hundred grand. Heck I have over $15k just in precious metals.

Depends on the carrier, some require 70% of Cov A, some require 50%, some allow you to drop as low as you want and some won't give replacement cost if you drop under a certain amount.
Good luck shopping if in a coastal state.

Subtle “I have a $500k house” brag alongside a not so subtle “I don’t have shite to put in it” brag.

You can usually drop down to 10% of coverage A

Depends on the company, it is generally a percentage of your coverage A
Default is 50% of Coverage A. Typically you can go down from that in 5% increments. Some will only go as low as 25% some will even allow 10% or even contents exclusion.
Some companies will only allow you to have replacement value on your contents if you carry at least 40%-50% otherwise if you drop below that threshold the contents must be covered at Depreciated/ACV value, some companies do not have this requirement
ETA: This is in reference to independent carriers in Louisiana

Mine was non-negotiable this year. And I don’t need what the contents are insured for. Last year I was able to negotiate to lower the premium a little, but insurers aren’t giving breaks this year.
