Found this video of Austin, TX between 2001 and 2025. Pretty wild how much it's changed
And east Austin that uses to be single story shite buildings and little bungalows is nothing but 20 story condo towers now. It's insane.

We had to spend two hours waiting for our luggage coming back from Mexico because of an electric storm and they wouldn't let us out because we had to go through customs. But Bojangles was worth it.

especially a city like Charlotte that is vastly superior to anything that’s ever been, is currently, or ever will be in the state of Louisiana lol.
Pfff, you’ve clearly never been to Ferriday.

Charlotte feels like walking into a city of junior bankers who would all rather be in NYC or Atlanta. It’s basically a smaller Atlanta with a whole lot less of the good Atlanta stuff.
This is a true statement.

And it’s all gentrified. I think the cons of gentrification outweigh the pros.
Fine, you have turned some urban blight into nice little homes (or loft apartments depending on your taste), there’s an influx of coffee shapes and Asian fusion cafés, and of course an overpriced locally sourced grocery store next to a small gym with a few treadmills and cycles.
They don’t care that they uprooted some poor black lady that just wanted to die in peace in the place she has lived for 50 years, or that some blue collar Mexican family has to move to some shitty inner suburb ring. All this is does is reassign the working class, make them end up paying more, and then the soccer moms are pissed there are “illegals” in the bedroom community.

The other day I landed at B12 and had to get to E24 in 10 minutes. Fatty jogging thru the airport. Made it as they were boarding to BR.

Ah, the old, “if you’re a black or brown person you should somehow be protected from the changing dynamics of a city.”

I’m not saying there should be some legal protection. I’m just saying there isn’t really an improvement with gentrification most times. We aren’t talking about ripping up neighborhoods for necessary infrastructure. This is about building fancy apartments and the like so people can live in the trendy place.
That’s fine…until the displaced folks need a place to live and relocate to Section 8 and voucher accepted apartments on the nicer sides of town.
