Kimmel was going to be fired soon anyway because he sucked and wasn't funny.
Late night tv is doomed. It’s not politics causing it it’s the free market. These is much more interesting shite to watch now and there is no need to watch a (non athletic) event live.

Never saw anyone argue abc/nexstar/sinclair didn't have the right to drop him, only that the FCC/Government didn't have the right to revoke their license if they didnt drop him, because of this pesky little thing called the 1st amendment.

Odd, I didn't realize we have a constitutional right to be on broadcast television. Kimmel isn't being jailed, he's not being fined, there is no abridgement of his right to say whatever he wants, he just no longer gets to say it on ABC.
Moreso, conservatives sued the Biden administration over what your side is accusing the Trump administration of doing, The Supreme Court rules 6-3 that it's fine for the government to lean on private entities to get them to censor speech. I'm not sorry the rules your side created and imposed on my side are now being used against you. Cry more. LINK
Now, if you want to have a discussion on the FCC in general that's fine but just remember that it was created in 1933 by the socialist FDR.

Where was your concern about the 1st Amendment when Disney fired Gina Carano?
Where was your concern about the 1st Amendment when the FBI made FB & Twitter suppress the Hunter Biden Laptop story, up to the point The New York Post was outright banned for a time?
Where was your concern about the 1st Amendment when anyone saying the wrong thing about Covid was kicked off social media?
Tucker Carlson?
Megan Kelly?
Yeah, you didn’t say shite then did you? So shut the frick up with your bullshite pearl clutching acting like you believe in freedom of speech. Everyone sees though your pathetic act.

Everyone should support the constitution, even if our "leaders" do not.
Hilarious that you would think otherwise.
Yeah, only threats of retaliation if he wasnt dropped happened in this case.

The FCC chair went on the Benny Johnson podcast and said it.... Its not a secret.
The abrupt decision by the network, which is owned by the Walt Disney Company, came hours after the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, assailed Mr. Kimmel and suggested that his regulatory agency might take action against ABC because of remarks the host made on his Monday telecast. The network did not explain its decision, but the sequence of events on Wednesday amounted to an extraordinary exertion of political pressure on a major broadcast network by the Trump administration…
Mr. Carr, in an interview on a right-wing podcast on Wednesday, said that Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were part of a “concerted effort to lie to the American people,” and that the F.C.C. was “going to have remedies that we can look at.”
“Frankly, when you see stuff like this — I mean, we can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Mr. Carr told the podcast’s host, Benny Johnson. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the F.C.C. ahead”…
Shortly after Mr. Carr’s remarks, Nexstar, an owner of ABC affiliate stations around the country, said that it would pre-empt Mr. Kimmel’s program “for the foreseeable future” because of the host’s remarks. Nexstar recently announced that it planned to acquire a rival company in a $6.2 billion deal, which will be scrutinized by the F.C.C. In a social media post on Wednesday, Mr. Carr expressed approval for Nexstar’s decision to pre-empt Mr. Kimmel, thanking the company “for doing the right thing.” He added: “I hope that other broadcasters follow Nexstar’s lead.”

The facebook case was already dropped by the Supreme Court. They said there wasnt evidence to support the moderation efforts facebook claims they took were tied to communications from the government.
Also, the first amendment doesnt apply to Facebook.... Yet

If they are going to pick someone to fight for and use as a martyr, it should be someone that is good at their job
JK's ratings were already in the tank. He as bad at his job and deserved to be fired for that alone

"FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr"
solid reporting there.
Maybe every western ive ever seen was wrong and "we can do this the easy way or the hard way" isnt actually a threat.
Its weird to me that people are openly supporting big daddy gov now that they like what it is doing CURRENTLY.

Let them fight. Besides, they will only last until they need money then they will quietly return to work.
